I’m just glad you said it, now I feel less inclined to do it myself.

Dude thinks he’s being subtle, but it’s clear what’s under the surface. And making light of Jones’ Sandy Hook "shenanigans" as well… absolutely disgusting.

Yup

Worse still - presumably Republicans also now control the house and senate?

And - I guess this means this is the real future of the Republican Party. No return now. When Trump finally stops, there will be a new Trump. Every election will be so polarised.

It feels like the human race has taken massive steps back. Urgh. Hopefully I’m just being dramatic.

DC is nice. Good transit system. Great museums. Lots of parks. Walkable. Very underrated city.
It's not the city s non human parts that aren't great, it's the people and the massive bubble they exist in that is soul sucking over time. Not to mention the country s worst drivers all congregate there it seems. I'd rather drive through Manhattan every day.

I looked and none of those votes have made any difference.
So they were largely pointless?
He represents American attitude. USA USA USA
He represents the worst of it. It’s depressing and embarrassing.
Again though, you are looking at a general picture and not at the real world experiences of the average US citizen
I am an average US citizen. All I am asking of my fellow Americans is to be able to put 2 & 2 together to get 4. It isn’t that difficult.

Why does Pete Buttiget (so?) continue to sit on the sidelines? He seems such a more eloquent and genuine politician than most of the Democrats. Is it because he's gay that they fear some won't vote for him?
Being more eloquent would probably lose you votes and I’m not even sure I’m joking.

Seeing a lot of people woried about Ukraine/NATO Why can't the continent most at risk, Europe do more? Why must it be the US? This is part of the problem.

Again though, you are looking at a general picture and not at the real world experiences of the average US citizen. It's the completely wrong way to look at things and being smug about it because you have an understanding of economics means very little to people who struggle every single day to put food on their table.

Not a dig at you and I get you're probably angry bisn't.
You're 100% right and he's always like this not just on election nights. Smug is precisely right.

I wonder when the Democrats will be willing to risk fielding a woman nominee again. Let’s be honest, all things being the seem there’s no way this was the result if the candidate was a man.

So all the Jan 6th rioters will be rejoicing tonight right? Blanket pardon for them and they will be back home with their families by the end of the week.

I doubt he remembers to do that

Not sure Harris is to blame for this developing tragedy.

Normally, it shouldn't matter who ran against Trump. He convicted felon and rapist should never ever have the smallest chance to get into the White House.

This shocking results says more about Americans than about Trump.
Yep. That's why is so depressing.

Such a low bar and the Democrats and the electorate failed to meet it.

Someone called it earlier in this thread, it's page 666 and winning Georgia pretty much confirmed the Trump presidency.

You're not helping with my depression that's sinking in lad.

Democrats down ballot holding up fine just reiterates the point: It's a massive protest against this particular administration.

I was referring to the multiple green laughing emojis in your posts.

"You people"?

Ah come on, so far we've got posters basically calling all of America misogynistic, blaming Muslims and other ethic groups on top of the usual Trump voters are stupid rhetoric and you just on a "you people" line?

A country is happily voting for the most racist, homophobic politician in a generation and you're asking if they will vote for a gay man as president?

He had no option this time. Harris was always going to replace Biden because only she, as his VP, could gain access to the funds he previously raised for the campaign, which given the short 3 month timeline of this election was the only option.

If Harris does lose this, the Dems will definitely run a male candidate next time. Newsom, Buttigieg, and Shapiro will be the leading contenders.

Not a dig at you and I get you're probably angry btw.
I'd rather starve than vote for trump.

He ran for president 4 years ago? He’s Transportation Secretary and he’s been pretty active this cycle I feel

I mean sure, but NC already had a Dem gov and Dem AG ( now the gov). I’m not sure you can put us in the “referendum on current admin” bucket.

I mean, the world is just becoming a bad place isn’t it? How are people so fooled by this man. I refuse to accept it’s just a protest now since for him to win, he also needs to be voted by independents. This is the issue with his first time. He’s entirely normalised that whilst people might not be racist (for example) it’s a feature they can cope with because, “the economy sucks” (for example).

The world is slowly drifting into a dangerous place.

"Becoming" is generous. We’ve been there a while. Palestinians have been under the heel of Israel for ages, the west ignores tragedies constantly (I don’t see shit about Sudan), we’ve been causing the 6th extinction event in the planet’s history for a while now, torching the place and putting people through the grinder for financial gains, and then concentrating said gains to a tiny top of a huge pyramid.

Humanity is a stain. I try to be a hopeful person, and I know there’s a lot of good people just trying to get by, but as a whole we’re still a shit show, ruled by our worst impulses.

Calm down. He was talking directly to me, I can surely ask what he means?

not a secular swing, but an erosion of the dem base that had already started in 2020 (latinos), a solidification of the GOP base (non-college whites), and no matching gains from 2020 (college whites, blacks, subruban women)

The autopsy will be exhausting too. Everyone clamouring to give their version of “the” reason this happened

I think the autopsy will be interesting if they can provide some meaningful information. Like I really am curious whether this is more people actively voting for what trump is offering (which seems mad to me) or if it's just people couldn't bring themselves to vote for kamala so voted independent or didn't vote at all
