2024 Summer Olympics (Paris)

That's some amazing tech if they're able to measure it to that level. Where exactly is the limit? If I'm losing out to a gold with a difference that minute, I'm checking the tech and ensuring it is able to measure that.

It will be a very high speed camera. Sorta like the ones they use when photographing bullets, explosions, etc.

Seems like two others had their feet across the finish line before Lyles, but not their clavicles (which is apparently the deciding factor).

Weird how slow Thompson's second half looked given the fast time.

He's a twat but he's delivers, 200M, Relay, he's going to do them all.

And that medal puts the US on top of the gold medal table.
yeah but you’ve got an unfair advantage. at a young age your athletes are already shooting guns and running away from bullets at school. only natural that translates into medals.

Why do all these razor close ones always go to the American… didn’t Phelps have 2 fingernail ones in his 8 golds year? Clutch genetics

Lyles for 4 guaranteed. Should sneak himself into 4x400m magically on top
Phelps hit the plate with more force. Other guy touched first but it's automated, you need to press the plate to stop the clock

And yet we somehow only have one gold medal at shooting.

French pole vault guy would have won that photo finish

Not even just the winner, the whole field was so close. PBs, SBs and NBs all over the place.
Think gabbie logan said world record time for 4 5 6 7 and 8. As in the beat ever time for a 4th place finish etc,.not for the actual runner. Could have misunderstood her though.

Crazy race. So close. He JUST made it. And that’s the difference between “he’s just got that championship mentality to run a PB in the final / look how he fed off the energy / great showman the sport needs etc etc” compared to “should focus more on his starts / conserve energy instead of jumping around / arrogance cost him etc etc”

Turns out though that he does get a buzz from the antics and he ran his best ever time in an Olympic final. Difficult to critique that in the end.

Reminds me of Ronaldo, bit of bellend, but when he's under pressure brings his "A Game"

Really doesn't matter. They can bond in unison when the NBA stars wins their gimme "real" world title here....

Hodgkinson is unreal too, that's a big record to chase, and a vintage 80's doping era of women's athletics which have taken 40 years to get anywhere near as they're biggest fake records in history - but I genuinely feel she has it in her, hopefully here, but if not.... it's coming.

It's funny the rabbit holes the Olympics can lead you down. No real knowledge of badminton but I saw a clip today of a badminton player having to forfeit due to injury, she was screaming and inconsolable. It was terribly sad.

Then I see in the comments that she's not well liked in Badminton circles and they have no sympathy for her. She's considered a poor sport with 10 minute Youtube compilations of her mind games and gamesmanship.

And apparently in 2016 it was the other way around when she won against an injured player but showed no concern or humility.
