2024 Summer Olympics (Paris)

Imagine living on the third floor and then this dude just casually jumps through your window!

That was a moment to remember. The crowd is cheering him as if he were born and raised in Paris. Incredible athlete, incredible achievement and an incredible atmosphere.

His career over the last 4 years has essentially been an exhibition to see if he improves his WR. Everybody else competes for medals and then there's Mondo the Harlem Globetrotter of Pole Vault, who shows up with the gold medal already at his neck and doesn't even care and spends the other guys final to warm up until his own event can begin

It's hard to fathom

There's a good documentary about Mondo called Born To Fly, currently available on the official Olympic Games app.

He’s insane. Is anyone else as good at doing anything as Duplantis is at pole vaulting? What an athlete.

I don't even care for pole vaulting but that was incredible. Duplantis is just in a league of his own. Superhuman.

Didn't he have a dodgy Olympic record? ,considering his complete dominance of the sport
Russia didn’t go to one (LA?) and had an injury or something at another? Won one.

Used to win the Worlds every time though and his last WR was over ten years after his first. Can’t think of another athlete who did that?

Was just discussing this with the missus...Ryan Crouser maybe the only one remotely close.

Sydney McClaughlin possibly in terms of the track but obviously Bol is at least pushing the times.

Still think Duplantis is alone in aura and individual brilliance though

Bubka has one Olympic medal (gold) that he won in Seoul 88, which was his first Olympics after the Soviets boycotted LA 84. He flopped in 92, failing to register a vault in the final, was injured in 96, and flopped again in 2000, failing to register a vault in the qualifier.

Has 6 World golds though.

Did you see how the other competitors stayed there and cheered on him? That tells you all that you need.
