2021 Summer Olympics (Tokyo)

I think route setting is incredible hard so I'm always hesitant to criticize the route setters but 2/3 boulders have been a clusterfeck. One way too easy and the other easy to the zone and then impossible.
Bouldering was basically decided on Boulder 2 which kinda sucks.

Shoot-outs in the hockey final. Excruciating this.

Women's pole vaulters are really struggling to go beyond 4.70m, only 4 have cleared it so far I think (including the GB athlete).

Wouldn't have thought there'd be such a big discrepancy between the men's and women's heights. None of the female finalists have gone over 5m this season, whereas the males were pushing 6m in their final.

Nah, not mad. It just seems to be being viewed in a mocking way for 'twisting' the usual table format to put themselves on top for overall medals won, when the 'proper' tables are prioritising Gold medals and putting China top.

I just found it interesting what people on here thought about how the 'Medals Table' should be ordered? Golds only? Overall medals? Overall medals but Golds 'worth more'? Etc.

‘Murica. If they led the Gold table and not the Overall, they’d probably switch it.

It should be a Gold Medal table. How many of your athletes are the best in the world at their sport. Both have value though.

how has GB cycling fallen so far behind, Italy just won in WR time , 8 seconds better than GB's Rio Gold winning time.

These things move in cycles. Our crop of riders isn’t as good, the last lot aged out but still performed better than the next lot. We’ve got a fine program and will win Golds again in Future.

The entire thing is a sham tbh. Swimming has far too many medals for one.

There should've been red flags when Phelps won his 8.

Why do Olympic weight lifters and competitive strongmen in general carry a lot of fat? Is there any benefit to it?

You got lots of replies, but another reason is that every day spent not lifting weight - or fuelling those efforts - is a day spent not getting stronger. Spending weeks cutting fat while your rivals are lifting heavy things would see you fall away in pretty short order.

Other countries have improved their program more than us. Italy’s team pursuit WR time was 8 seconds quicker than our time that won gold in 2016. Our lads were setting PB’s, the others have just progressed more since the last Olympics. We’ll be back though.

Cheers guys. Never thought I'd be this invested in a hockey game

That’s why I like the olympics. Four years you don’t give a damn about a sport and all of a sudden you are cheering like your favorite football team wins an important match.

This is my thoughts also, but it happens in sport all the time.
Paris should be different.

Exactly this  I didn't even know that we had representatives in some of the events I was gutted to see South African's not make it, and the sheer joy when we got Gold and Silver in swimming and Surfing, was celebrating like I've been following it for ages.

LETS F’ING GO!!!!!!

One of the greatest Olympics finals matches ever. The Magic Man coming back from multiple injuries to gas the defending Olympic champ with less than 20 seconds left. Make the movie already!

Congrats @RobinLFC ! Did us a favour stopping Australia getting the gold too

I'm very into the pole vault right now but Bradshaw seems to be struggling the most to me, so I'd say bronze looks the most likely right now

Edit: Yep, bronze confirmed. Pleased for her as think she's something whose had a lot of 4ths and 5ths in her lifetime, so good to bring her best when she needed it today and finally get a medal.

That’s the beauty of it. Remember the 2002 Winter Olympics when the whole country went mad for curling.

We got our 5th ever gold medal today. Pedro Pichardo in the triple jump and he did it easily too.

1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Best results ever for Portugal at the Olympics
