Nick Sandmann as in the little twat in the Maga hat? And did he really receive half a billion fecking dollars in repairs from CNN and wapo?!

He sued for that much. How much they actually settled for is not available but I'm sure it was more in the thousands range (basically whatever they determined would be lower amount than legal costs for a prolonged trial is my guess), although settling for anything with that cnut is crazy in reality.

Someone actually called it a few days ago

2/6. If I was a betting man and you told me two of those would actually speak, I would have placed my bets on the two being Kid Rock and Scott Baio.

Not voting in this election is like moving to a small missouri town to help turn around a struggling club only to be antagonized by a local kingpin and his rollicking employees and then defeating him with tai chi and falling in love with the local doctor. Folks, there's a freaking cheeto in the white house. This is not the time for purity politics.

No of course he didn’t. It was an undisclosed settlement of a case he would probably have lost. They definitely didn’t give him half a billion.

Ah fair enough. I'd say my faith in humanity has been restored, but that's not true so.

Fair enough.

Thought tai chi was a type of tea.

Claudia Conway’s TikTok Livestream/Says Kellyanne Leaving the White House is a Publicity Stunt

Apparently so is her husband out of Lincoln project. Good riddance to both

Lincoln Project is about getting rid of Trump so it would make sense for him to leave given that voting begins soon and there will be nothing left for him to do. Same with her - she been on the Trump train longer than anyone in the administration not related to Trump.

Either this is the most dysfunctional family ever, or they are all on it to create drama and infamy.

seems to be a real life version of what people assume is the "DC couple"

1. Hate each other intensely.
2. Children suffer
3. Stay together because it's "what the political elite do" to stay in the "in-crowds"
4. The political connections they both have opens up opportunities for both of them.
5. Awful people generally.

Wouldn't be surprised if they've both got extramarital partners in DC and just live separate lives.

Honestly though, like, I think basically just that this might be, like, a publicity stunt and, you know, whatever, but still, like, how can you be so cruel-like to your children. I mean, it's, they are, like really, like disfunctional, like.

Kill me now.

If I am a lifelong Dem fighting for progressive ideas, this would feel like a 'feck you'.
At what point does trying to win the other side over start to erode your own support?

Probably not just yet, Trump is so bad that most people will probably just be glad of the extra weight to get rid of him at the moment. It'll doubtless cause issues later though.

If you thought the democratic party was ever at a point where it was a far left party or very progressive you havent been paying attention imho. The US has always leaned center right almost without fail throughout its history. What is considered left and right on the fridges just has continued to have its definitions changed to push that very center towards a new center.

Having said that - I stand by my opinion that if you feel Biden isn't progressive or progressive enough I don't blame you one bit. But - this is not the election to stick to those guns. Undoing 8 years of Trump damage will be far harder than undoing some of the damage that's been done so far. In fact, 8 years of Trump won't be undone for the rest of your life given the far reaching additional impact at all levels, especially at the judicial level.

If the GOP keeps going right and the DNC settles for taking over the centre, I suppose we can expect a split-off on the left eventually.

It's disheartening alright. The Dems are in such a mess that they pretty much need help from the other side to ensure a trump family loss. It's imperative that he is removed then we can deal with the fallout.
It's also not only the Dems that need to pulled to the left but some Republicans need to be pulled center, wishful thinking but if this country wants to move forward there has to be some form of a centrist Republican caucus somewhere that actually believes in science and things like rape are a crime and can work independently from their far right base.
Sick of the stupidity on both sides but to pull further apart will benefit no one in the long run. Trump family has to fecking go though, that much is crystal clear.

Totally agree. If I'm in a car crash I'm not going to pull out my phone and shop for a new car before I get out of the wreckage.

Ultimately, its all about winning. If you don't win you have zero influence. If you do win with a broad coalition, at least you have a seat at the table and can work towards shaping policy from the inside. Also worth noting that Biden probably has the most liberal platform of any President in recent history.

This don't mean shit if the next sentence is not: "However, we will be both eliminating tax loopholes and increasing the tax rate for anyone making more than $400K".
That's basically exactly what he said though tbf. Not every loophole I'm sure (US tax code is Swiss cheese as we all know) , but there is some reason to be optimistic about his plan for those above that.

My post is not really about policy. It is about perception. I am under no illusion that the Dem base is not not as left as we here like to think. If not, Bernie would not have lost so easily. My point is about optics. Where is the advantage in getting hardcore conservatives to campaign for you. I am not a Socialist but even I would be asking what the feck was going on if I see people who have devoted their lives and career to gutting the welfare state, denying reproductive rights etc campaigning with my party's nominee.

He does. On balance, I can't see the net gain in openly campaigning with people like Jeff Flake.

I’m no expert, but my take is that this is a one off to get rid of Trump. That’s how dangerous he is.
