Oh lord. Biden and his team just had to not be specific in regards to China. They should have specified the Chinese government as opposed to China itself. First the cold war rhetoric and now this? Jesus christ. If both supporters of the 2 political parties start to hold these anti-Chinese sentiments I can see Asian Americans suffering more abuse from idiots.
Good thing people here mistake me for Latino or Hawaiian. I’m safe for now.

Been out of the loop for a while. Have we reached the phase where everything is blamed on Bernie aupporters?

Biden's camp will be getting worried now that more corroboration is coming to light. If this story blows up then you are going to get more women come forward in the coming months alleging Biden behaved inappropriately towards them.

the libs should be even more pissed than we are, the people leading that side of the DNC chose a rapey, senile old man in 4th place who isn't even making any policy concessions to you to rally around

That phase started months ago. It is now also being applied pre-emptively.

So while Bernie losing the nomination was proof that his ideas just weren't that popular and that he failed to expand his coalition, a hypothetical Biden loss in the general election will be the fault of bitter Bernie bros.

Funny how that works.

Because perhaps 5%-10% of the electorate is a crazily small amount to base a nominee on but could make the difference in a final vote ... Pretty easy maths tbf

I'm against the whole socialism = the government doing things but fecking hell the world is going through the biggest pandemic in 100 years and this is her answer!

Being a leftist, I think I'd go crazy in the US. There really is no option for leftists there. And the "pick the lesser evil" thing, I could go with that for a couple of cycles, but I gotta be honest, after a decade or so I simply wouldn't vote. People need to vote for something they want, it's not sustainable going ad eternum voting for something you don't believe in just to avoid another thing you don't like. I perfectly understand people not voting for Biden.

I look forward to the blame and the hate then even though it's on the candidate to earn the votes, especially to the millions of people who aren't Bernard Brothers who don't come out to vote anyway. Start thinking of the gotchas, zingers, and one liners now and have them ready just in case.

Could the Dems still change their candidate at the convention if the Biden story becomes true and gets air time and a court case? I am not saying he is guilty or not as only a court can decide that but to contest a presidency under a cloud is not good news for the party.
Could they inject Cuomo into it with Bernie as the presidential candidate? Doesn't it all depend on the delegates to the convention?
It would be criminal of them to nominate Biden if he has that hanging over his head only for it to be what gets Trump to the white House again.

I'm not a fan of him by any means but Cuomo would be far better of a candidate than Biden. Would make for entertaining debates with strong New York attitude and energy. 100% Trump would mention Cuomo's nipple rings (allegedly).

But yes, you're right, it's all whoever the delegates want the convention. There's -1000% Bernie will be chosen as a running mate for anyone though.

Will the election go ahead with threat of second wave of Coronavirus at that time? Current situation is dire and may be it is even worse at that time. Holding election will be quite dangerous in such a situation.

What is the protocol in case it couldn't go ahead?

The presidency sort of shifts to the next highest elected office at a predetermined date in January. Otherwise it gets sort of weird.

That hasn't stopped leadership across the country from making brainless decisions regarding human life.

Ideally we'd all have mail in ballots. Realistically, they'll just enable people to go out to vote regardless of health.

Who would that be? If I’m not wrong, the (current) order is Trump Pence Pelosi and all three of their terms end about the same time.
It would preferably have been Pelosi, as both presidential terms end at the same time per the Constitution. But she won’t get re-elected if there are no elections and then she is no longer Speaker of the House.

So then, like I said, it gets weird. But I don’t think we ever get to that point.

President Chuck Grassley then.

Isnt staggered election possible? I mean elections held over a week so there is no over crowding at polling booths. It always amazes me that for a country as big as US completes its elections in just one day, while we in India have it over a period of a month.

It's way harder to suppress votes over the course of a month.

Saw a good stat: Trump got fewer votes than Romney in Wisconsin, and Romney lost by 7 pts. It really was a Clinton turnout/ enthusiasm failure rather than Trump masterminded campaign.

To Biden: I genuinely dont understand the personal hatred some posters on here have for the man beyond being part of the establishment for 30 years and not being Bernie. That dislike has been pervasive before the most recent Reade allegations, so it's not that.

I don't think he's great and would love a US where Bernie could be President, but the primaries just showed everyone that even democrats aren't ready. All I've heard is that Biden barely wants to be doing this, but received huge pressure because enough folks believed the candidates on show would fail to win the election.

And to be honest, it took a couple semi coherent showings and Biden completely swept up the primaries. He had less money, less ads, less on the ground workers and the second his nice, safe name popped up the majority of democratic primary voters flocked to it. He did better in the primaries than Obama.

And that is the electorate.

Personally I think Bernie is right on the vast majority of his policies and think the US is a disaster and going in the wrong direction. But clearly the majority of voters in primaries don't feel that way.

And surely that's what it comes down to?

It's not that Biden would be better than Trump. Of course he is but what would this alleged rape issue do to his chances?
Should it turn out to be true then what? What if he gets nominated and then he is forced to withdraw? You simply cannot have a US Presidential candidate who has been alleged to have raped someone ( even alleged with fairly credible evidence) running for the presidency. You bet your bottom dollar that the Republicans are going to raise the issue.

I doubt anything happens unless something substantial turns up beyond a brief Larry King video clip. For instance, if one of the three people in Biden's office at the time who Reade allegedly complained to about the incident, were to corroborate that she complained to them, then that would be significant. So far each has said they either don't know who she is or never heard her complain about him at all, and generally spoke favorably about the atmosphere for women working in Biden's office. If Reade could show the complaint she filed at the time then that would be significant as well, but she for some reason hasn't been able to.

Its just embarrassing and shameless how Abrams is just whoring herself out to become the vp nominee.

A staggered election over a week or so is an excellent idea (in more normal nonpandemic conditions), but the chances of that happening is also -1000%.

Is this a joke? There is sooooo much context to this that’s being left out.

I only kind of understand that. If you look through time, will you find bills that Biden voted for reprehensible? Absolutely. Did he vote for the Iraq war, for example? Yes he did (reasonable synopsis here: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/12/us/politics/joe-biden-iraq-war.html) I find his handling of the Anita Hill case obviously terrible - and he does too now.

But he's also been involved in, sponsored and passed things I agree with. He is prochoice, pro LGBT rights, pro camapign-reform and pro-renewable energy. He may come around to medicare for all after seeing this disaster unfold.

I've heard countless anecdotes that indicate he's a good man who has been through and overcome immense personal tragedy, and Ms. Reade withstanding very few that he is not.

Anyway, my point is that if you want a Presidential candidate who has a background in government - particularly a long one - you're going to find things about their past you dislike. That's just what it is.

The only question you can ask on election day (in a two party system) is if you believe candidate x will best represent your priorities over candidate y. There is no realistic third option.

Maybe you believe that another four years of Trump will finally push the US towards the correction it needs - I can understand that logic - but a straight choice between Biden and Trump just seems obvious if you have any progressive leanings whatsoever, and equating the two is juvenile.

He is prochoice
except where he isn't
https://theintercept.com/2019/06/05...fordable-care-acts-coverage-of-contraception/

pro LGBT rights
joe biden voted for the defence of marriage act

pro camapign-reform
hahahaha imagine believing this

pro-renewable energy

yeah he'll pivot any second no doubt

yeah, why isn't anyone talking about all the women he didn't rape?

there is a realistic option that half of america takes every two years

Ok wise guys. It is down to a choice between Trump and Biden. There is no other choice.
