Some leeway needs to be given to domestic protests. Dude, I said... I fecking hate this crowd. But you can see how if you 100% label this as terrorism, it could turn around and be used against any large protest that is looking to break through a police barrier, that destroys some shops, etc.

They are threatening the democratic process of certifying Biden’s election victory whilst also causing the entire Senate to hide in fear. Some probably have guns & are willing to use it if the situation arises. This is more than a protest that’s gotten a little out of hand. They know exactly what they’re doing & are terrorists.

I get not being prepared because, frankly, you just don’t expect this (although in hindsight it seems pretty predictable).

Well, what else would the Army do there? That's what I was arguing before with @SirAF ... National Guard, Law Enforcement, yes... and it could potentially still turn violent. But active involvement of the Army pretty much guarantees significant casualties.

Besides its a bit moot unless it were to last for days, even barring the news that DOD is rejecting even deploying the National Guard.... would take several days for any Army or Marine units to deploy.
 
It just shudders you to think of the carnage that could have been caused if you had a few people smuggle AR15s inside and then go on a rampage.
