O sweet child

Not at all. It may be a minority of Republicans, but there are some who will view with great distaste the refusal of Trump to concede defeat and the shenanigans now going on.

The more that QAnoners and Trumpites take over the GOP, the less and less electable it becomes - that's just plain old political common sense.

When Trump is gone they will flock back and regardless, the ones that don’t will indeed be scooped up by the Democrat party which will in turn be hijacked by these establishment Republicans who will drag it to the further and further to the right and the establishment Democrats will put up zero fight because being in power and in bed with establishment Republicans is always preferable to negotiating with the progressive left wing of the party.

Two party democracies are an absolute joy.

Trump won't be gone. He's going to spend the next 4 years playing the martyr, victim and saviour from his bunker in Florida ... and doing his best to take the GOP further towards the QAnon extremes.

‘Scooped up’ is doubtful in and of itself since the wealthy suburbanites who were formerly staunch GOP that the Dem leadership based their electioneering strategy on have delivered them two tepid Presidential results with no congressional coattails whatsoever. You just know a bunch of them are gagging for a Mitt Romney, while the former D voters turned Trumpites are now so conditioned by right wing media it’d take a small miracle to get them voting Democratic again.

Unless something drastic happens, we would be teetering between a gridlocked gov to a full right wing takeover for the next decade. And that right wing takeover, invoking Godwin’s law, looks pretty fecking fascistic.

How are the Trumpist crowds spinning the kraken's military intel specialist that turned out to be a military mechanic that flunked an intro intel course? Are they claiming Powell's lawsuits are part of the liberal deep state?

Who's Ben Shapiro going to market himself to now if these idiots turn against him, considering the only people that ever find him actually impressive or intelligent are these Trump types.

The NYT has 3 anti-Trump Republicans on its op-ed pages. David Brooks, Bret Stephens, Ross Douthat. I might be missing some more too. Nationally, Trump won >90% of registered Republicans. The joke (after basically the same thing in 2016) was that every Republican who doesn't support Trump has a media job.

If Ben shaves off the roughest edges, he could get a media job as a sensible conservative.

What's the reason for that? Is it the relatively large amount of "socialist" dictators in South American history making the "all dems are socialist" shtick resonate with them?
I’d heard that about Cubans and Venezuelans in FL but it doesn’t make sense for other Hispanics, does it?

This American Life had an episode where they interviewed some Venezuelans in Florida or somewhere. The mum would never vote for Biden because she had seen what socialism was like. And the reporter didn't even say "erm, Biden isn't socialist" or anything. Maddening.

I think it depends on who you are talking to. Some of them, at least those in states like TX, FL are more right-wing than others. I also think dems did themselves no favor by publically admitting to "Latinos are not part of our winning strategy"

If you're doing reporting like that it's not really the role of the journalist to correct the person they are interviewing.

Yeah, who knew that the Latinos are not one big voting block? That amongst their group are conservatives and democrats.

There are a lot of Latinos that do quite well financially too.

I get what you're saying but I think you can strike a better balance than just broadcasting to millions that Biden is a socialist and that that's a valid reason for not voting for him.
