2020 US Elections | Biden certified as President | Dems control Congress

He runs the biggest liberal grantmaking network for decades, and as a result drew the ire of European nationalists, who then overtime connected with the burgeoning American neo Nazis/ethnonationalists/conspiracy theorists. As politics in America became more and more partisan (intensifying especially after the 2000 election), he became the right‘s favourite boogeyman in online spaces, and that is often tinged with the classic healthy dose of anti semitism (Illuminati/Rothschild) due to his Jewish descent.

A lot of the QAnon people I've seen here have pivoted a little and Bill Gates is now their biggest boogyman. They connect COVID to Bill Gates wanting to install microchips into everyone via the vaccine and Bill Gates is behind 5G which is mind control or something.

I have no idea what will happen next, but one thing for sure is that anti Trump people live is a serious echo chamber, and we still have no empathy as to why 70m Americans voted for him, despite 4 years of what we consider as heinous indecency.

When Trump was elected, Democrats all committed to 'understanding' this Trump coalition, so that it could better meet their needs and reduce its size. And yet Trump's election last week proved that this movement has simply grown bigger.

We may find his post election shenanigans as ridiculous but 70m Americans truly believe they have been cheated in this election and will include academics, judges, military and the like. I wouldn't be surprised if this election was rendered null and void and who knows what the subsequent chaos would bring.

There is zero chance of this happening. Trump has very, very little chance of proving in a court of law that significant enough fraud occurred even in one battleground state, let the other battleground states that would be also needed to overturn Biden's likely electoral college lead.

Trumps detractors have predicted that he had zero chance’ in everything he tried since 5 years ago.

It just needs a few bent judges ... nothing surprises me anymore.

The Bill Gates conspiracy theories bemuse me. Why the QAnon mentalists have stuck to this idea of a philanthropic billionaire tech nerd being the cabal mastermind behind a heinous attempt to subdue everyone with microchips I will never know. There are dozens of shadier billionaires who fit that fantasy persona - namely the likes of the Koch brothers, Robert Mercer and the DeVos family, but again its no surprise why the crosshairs aren't on them.

That's what I fear as well , however there is no chance either Biden or Pelosi will accept such an outcome. The house won't confirm Trump in such a circumstance . Also , the risk of actual civil war increases significantly in that scenario, so at some point people would have to admit having a functioning democracy and trying in 4 years is better than having no democracy and a torn country.

This will not happen, it cannot happen. I firmly believe its a small core of congressional republicans that will push this, the rest will actually put the country first. Its east to be cynical and say all they care about is power, but that's far too arrogant and simplistic a view. They know if you declare this election void that no future election will ever be respected by either side. I'm not one for hyperbole, but IF the election was declared void I can see seriously talk of cessation.

Another darker side of me also thinks that such a move would be an existential threat to the country, and there are people and institutions that are sworn to protect the country and the constitution, so certain actions could be put on the table.

with that same argument a bakery can denny a gay couple of a wedding cake
Not at all, there is a thing called a "protected class", and being an ignorant, racist narcissist isn't one of them. The same is true in the A shop owner in the UK can boot somebody of of their place if they are abusive, racist, sexist, threatening etc. You cannot throw someone out for being black, gay, Jewish, a woman or old.

what is mental for you, it wasnt mental for 71 million voters
You don't know that. A huge part of the explanation for his first election was that Washington wasn't working for his voters, so they voted in someone that made sure Washington worked for no one. As to your question referring to a single escalator ride every couple of hours for 4 years as if it were some biblical event counts as mental for me.

then the argument isn't that "at the end of the day, they as a company can set whatever policy they want. If someone doesn’t agree then they are free to move to a different platform." is more to it than that

the thing is who and how the rules are set

mate, i'm not saying that Trump may say whatever he wants, and that Twitter doesn't have the right or the obligation to stop that, what i'm saying that the answer cant be that "they as a company can set whatever policy they want. If someone doesn’t agree then they are free to move to a different platform."

Only that a company can't have a policy "no blacks, no women, no Jews, no old people". They can have a policy that says "any swearing you're out", "any incitement to violence you're out", "any spreading of demonstrably incorrect information and you're out". The obvious response to the last one (your bolded part) is "who decides". And the answer is very simple: "they do", they own the platform, they 100% have the right to decide what they want the community to be like. Its entirely likely the powers that be at Twitter had a long think and asked themselves "do we want to go down in history as the prime enabler of this person". The 1st amendment applies solely to the US Government, "freedom" also applies to people and companies to decide how to run their platforms.

Is this real?

I just downloaded the image directly from the No10 Twitter account and tested it in Photoshop, it's completely real.

Alright mate, your're right, the answer is marginally more complicated than that. But you'll understand that I couldn't deduce that from this post:

well, that's a very different explanation on which i totally agree

Why would Twitter ban it’s most popular, prolific and powerful member, through whom they have generated huge income since 5 years ago?!
as we’ve seen in this election, Twitter will invent rules to ensure Trump can stay on their platform.

Yeah, some of the people I've seen push the Bill Gates theories come from that New Age fascist subset I've mentioned and linked before who you'd think would also be suspicious of Kochs, Mercers, DeVos, but nope. Crickets when you mention them.

Its the ‘why’ that gets me.

Gates is the epitome of a right wing free market capitalist. He’s the second richest person on the planet. He won. He doesn’t need a beyond-available-tech-microchip to control society. They are already operating to a model that sees him having won the game.

He is also quite clearly quite a nice bloke. I don’t endorse his actions as I don’t know enough about him. But he seems to be a nice chap.

Is there a less cnuty billionaire?

Trumps going to steal this isn't he. Republicans will back him.

No way. Had it been a matter of a single state, I would be more worried, but he would need to get some results from recounting or lawsuits in 3-4 states to flip the EC. It won't happen.

It would be a constitutional crisis second only to the secession of the Confederate States. I hope that there will be enough pushback from republicans to keep it from materializing, but I do wonder if there would be any backstop if they were to go through. I know that in many other countries that do have okish electoral processes but a military with history of political involvement, by now those militaries would at least be making noises in the background and putting out signals in the press as to where they're positioned. The apolitical stance of the US military is historically admirable, but you wonder what the current leaders think of this situation. The problem with doing anything either way is that it the path of no return. If the military ever intervenes in politics, it will end up doing so again and again.

We'll see about that. Trust me people are sick and tired of this dimwitted orange fool. Him and his entire cult following will get exactly what they deserve. They'll be no America left if they keep at it. His fellow Republicans who are thinking of running should also realize that Trump is not helping their credibility and put a stop to this masquerade.

Well sadly 71,458,522 Americans appear to not be particularly sick and tired of his shit.

Anyone really surprised about the total incompetence of the UK government, after the last year and since 2015 generally, really ???

UK is a total shambles at the moment unfortunately and I don't see anyone in parliament who's going to improve things any time soon.

She was also convinced that Michelle Obama is actually a man.
I tried asking for evidence for all these accusations. There was none of course, except youtube videos.
And this was in Denmark, a place where Trump is hated by virtually everyone.
 What, because she's tall?

No he isn't.

It doesn't matter if the Republicans back him, the law is the law. He lost in multiple states and has no legal grounding to challenge outside of a re-count in Georgia.
