I'm waiting for the reaction from Republicans when Trump begins to use/sell the information he gets from continuing intelligence briefings.

(assuming of course that he hasn't already been doing so)

So...we're back to my initial argument again which is in the spirit of your post. I quoted NoLogo who claimed 72M people thought it was totally cool, to which I responded that's oversimplifying it.

I agree though that they overlook racism for personal priorities.

You can quibble about whether Joe Biden has changed during those 26 years, but racial animosity isn’t a part of the political message he ran on in 2020. The same excuse doesn’t extend to Trump, just watch the RNC again.

As a fellow Brit I can't speak for Americans but I just found this quite delicious with the throw-back to Ace Ventura at the end.

It goes in waves. The early 90's were awesome.

From 91-92 alone you had: Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Victoria Jackson, Kevin Nealon, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Adam Sandler and Tim Meadows.
Late 90's and early 2000's starred Will Farrell, Jimmy Fallon, Molly Shannon, Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey

There were some real dog years though

No clean politician. If they're clean chances are they're stopped at county level at best.

But there are limits even you dont cross.

If one party had me believe my tax would go up, my current civil liberties would be infringed upon, my business is at risk of temporary closure, and that unchecked immigration would see the environment I know and loved, changed forever.... I’d probably be able to ignore the racism.

Key line there is ‘Had me believe’. I could absolutely rationalise voting for someone racist if it protected my personal situation.

All of us have these kind of internal battles.

I’ve travelled extensively around America (but nothing like enough). 40-50 year old Republican Conservatives just remind me of my 85 year old grandfather (would have been 94 now). Heck, my father had some terrible views just 20 years ago.

Reducing America’s problems to sentence on a sandwich board... is evidence of the cause of those problems.

If he's changed it's certainly subtle, I give you that.

America is way too big. Shouldn’t be one country.

Sat in London right now, I can appreciate the difference between my views of Abortion, and Ireland’s. I can understand my views on Immigrants vs both Northern France and Southern France.

I freely accept that I should not be able to vote to decide their lived existence. That would be nuts. In America, that’s life. They are not a homogenous people.

There’s this idea that Democrats are good and progressive and that Republicans are bad. On policy, I’d agree. But people don’t vote on policy.

If I was broke down in the middle of nowhere and knocked on a door, I know that Republican or Democrat is not the deciding factor in whether they let me on to use the phone. It’s where I am in that country.

It's very hit and miss and depends on who they have on, but Alec Baldwin is almost always worth a watch for his Trump.

If this country split in 2 based on political leanings I do believe my Trump loving brothers and sisters would come in for a shock. I think (so please don't take this as 100% fact) I read that somewhere in the range of 70+% of the USA's GDP comes from blue states. Most red states (maybe not Texas??) are net takers from the federal government (i.e. they receive more in funding then they pay in). This fact always makes me chuckle when I see conservatives rail about socialism and wealth redistribution.

So many big names and now for the most part the longest person on the show consecutively is Kenan, about as funny as an ant.

SNL is only really good for its hosts monologues and a few skits but it really has been living off the coat tails from yesteryear, now it reminds me of one those really bad comedy clubs off the beaten path in the city that you pay $25 and immediately walk out after smelling like cigar smoke and cheap whiskey
