Surely not?

AP were 99.8% correct in the last election. For them to get an entire state wrong would be almost impossible.

I reckon they've been following our transfer thread. Make up a random rumour - if you're wrong delete it, if it turns out correct you're ITK.

Yes. People vote in order (like candidate A first, candidate C second, cadidate B third, candidate D fourth etc).

If no one wins 50%, then the two who are leading go in a runoff. But not against each other, instead the second votes of the other candidates starts going for the two leading candidates. Which can change the final results. In any case, Collins is leading big (70k votes) with 120k votes remaining to be counted, and is above 50%. Even if she somehow goes under 50, the two other candidates have combined only 50k votes, and they need to have voted totally for Gideon for this to change something.

Essentially, Dems should have spent money here instead of spending 250 million in South Carolina, Kentucky and another two states they still lost. Next to Colorado, this should have been the biggest target, but for reasons unknown Dems thought that they have it on the bag.

Weeelllll it's over now :annoyed:

So from the chart I saw on BBC earlier....

Trump has GAINED voters in every single area, women, blacks, hispanics etc..

But lost support with non college educated whites?

So what many of us said was his core actually dwindled a bit and he gained everywhere else where he shouldn't have?

Fml, that's insane.

MI Senate race is also getting very close. Peters was ahead for 5 minutes and it just went back to James.

I can’t get my head around Maine going +8 Biden and +9 Collins.
Her independent streak might have helped her, and Trump attacking her might have helped her with the independents.

Let's not forget that just two years ago (before Kavanaugh vote), she was one of the most popular senators in the US.

It's a shame RCP is going paywalled because the raw polls have been more insightful than poll+ type analysis.

That's miserable. After the year they've had with police brutality and putting children in cages.

Seems to me the protests/riots have had a negative impact on their own perceptions of what to do. There was an interview with a pair of black voters yesterday that said they didn't view BLM favourably at all and maybe that's gone through the electorate worse than we thought.

For the latinos there have been major GOP efforts to make legislation tailored to them in spite of the border situation/cages and that was what did Miami, etc. They don't like the thought of socialism even if that's a completely misguided and propagandised thing to think about.

Collins winning means that GOP keeps the Senate. You can hate McConnell as much as you want, but he knows how to play this shit. Easily, the most powerful person in the US during the last 10 years.

Perhaps, though Trump was still deep in the negative when people rated his ability to handle racial relations, while Biden was in the positive.

Best thing Biden can do is to strike the iron while its hot on that and immediately bring law enforcement and community leaders together. This election is a rejection of the far left no matter which way you spin it - which is why I strongly disagree a Bernie or Warren would have done better in this election.

nv still has to count a liberal county he should be fine there.

I was reading that this is the biggest voter turn out for over a century percentage-wise which could distort figures like that. If more white non-college educated people vote overall, it could be that the least motivated to vote were the democrat voters and they've appeared today for the first time in years. The reverse could be true for some of the others.

Still seems very weird though and the dems will want to know what's gone on with their share of the hispanic vote as it's atrocious and making it a close race.

Now that we know that Biden's winning, does anyone hope that Trump does try to run again in 2024?

Trump in the Republican Primaries is  entertainment. An older, fatter, more wounded Trump would just be sensational TV.

Dutch right wing loons keep saying AZ ks still in play. Is it though? Seems unlikely.

Why is there such a divide in voting between urban and rural counties? Does all this inbreeding and burgers make your brain go soft and turn you in to a Trump supporter?

Does anyone know why counting these last few ballots in Georgia and Arizona is taking so long?

I think Georgia had around 200,000 to go about an hour ago which is still a lot, but not sure where Arizona are.

In fairness isn’t this a pretty common phenomenon in many countries including the UK?

Because of comments like this

The blue wave was not there though. It's gross how tight the presidential race is.
Dems have not won in the Senate or Congress. This has to be the big takeaway for Dems. Biden winning in such a way was merely the minimum requirement. They did not achieve anything more.
