2018 US Elections

Exactly. And they have guns. A fecking lot of them and that is what the worry is and has been for a while now.
I was referring to the politicians, mate. :D

I’ve got a horrible feeling the polls aren’t taking into account this huge amount of voter suppression that is taking place. Not to mention the direct attacks on voting equipment.

GOP, hold both houses. Mueller canned, gerrymandering ramped up and all evidence of corruption that took place to make it happen destroyed.

Seems like George is pulling all the stops.

Democrats should do whatever is possible to organize people to vote, while at the same time to play dirty in Democrat controlled states. Use the same tactics in California, New York, etc. US is anything bar a democracy so they shouldn't pretend to be holders of democracy while Republicans use every dirty trick in the book (and then some more) to continue the control.

Only results matter. Take the house and Trump can stick his shitty walls in his fat arse, and you then don't pass any budget which removes Obamacare.

Yep, no way in hell Gillum is up by 12 when he was only up by 1 a week ago. I’m going to assume he’s up by about 4-5 points at this stage.

Everytime I see a well-meaning Tweet from a celebrity, I can't help think that for every 1 person on the left that they encourage, there's 2 right-wingers who will also be energised into action.

Celebrities in particular seem to be counter productive in this regard, although I'm pretty sure Swift and her 110m followers will do a lot of good. Minnowish actors like Ruffalo not so much.

Nah, any right-winter who is energized into action by a Mark Ruffalo-tweet is already energized. If you never do anything because you're afraid you're going to affect the other side more than your side... well, you wouldn't get much done.

Yeah, I do like the idea of someone with a huge an influence as Taylor Swift trying to get people engaged (especially as I agree with what little I know of her politics).

I must say that everytime I see an actor Tweeting something political, I am reminded of that scene in Team America- World Police and it kinda makes me roll my eyes.

You can't tell them not to tweet about stuff like this .
There is seriously something wrong with us on the left if the right end up more motivated to vote when issues like this are brought to light.

It seems to me as a Brit who has been to America twice, (both times to Utah so my experience might not be at the most expert level) that the right-wingers over there do seem generally more motivated and involved than the lefter leaning peeps.

makes sense since there is no major left wing party in the us

They should get involved in the primary process then. Keep moving the party.
Think America is somewhat of a basket case. It has a century's history of demonising the left.
