2018 US Elections

Or, if we agree on the premise that UHCs bottom line is actually cheaper than what is currently going on, you could just present a plan to show for that fact and counter your opponent.

That may seen sensible, but its trickier to actually work since voters are largely animated on emotion and less so on logic. How politicians are framed in the media plays a massive role in voter perceptions of supporting them.

I heard that in Canada, they followed a state that implemented their healthcare system successfully.

I think if a state in USA shows that that kind of model or similar one somehow works, the general public will buy into it.

The question is how many states have actually tried it in USA? If they tried and failed, why?

True.

We are trying to do just that in Minnesota.

We have a State Run Exchange which is very much better than any private insurance. But hopefully with the State legislature and the Governor in Democratic hands, we will implement a Public Option. It is basically expanding Minnesota Care which is for low income people to everyone. Forcing Insurance companies to be competitive.

True, but promoting it before its implemented is a much harder task. Obviously once its in place, a majority would rebel if it was ever taken away.

Isn't that almost what is happening with Obamacare? It has gone from very unpopular to very mildly popular, and there are some parts in it that people really don't want to see removed. No wonder the GOP had such a struggle passing a health care bill.

Of course, Trump and the GOP are doing their best to mess it up anywyay.

That'c correct, although since the Dems didn't make the individual manndate stringent penalty strong enough and the Republicans subsequently got rid of it, the markets have shrunk in certain places and premiums have gone up to where the original Obamacare opponents have been making the case that it was a disaster in the first place (ignoring that it could be easily fixed by strengthening the mandate).

Republicans are pulling out all the stops. Voter suppression on an industrial scale. How can a candidate be in charge of an election he's on the ballot for?

I can see the Democrats gaining Congress and Republicans retaining Senate as the most likely outcome.

What's up with Rasmussen's polls? Always seem to be out of place like a lot. I don't know much about their history of accuracy though.

so another debate....

Cruz must be seeing internal numbers he is not happy about.

It is weird. Coz the usual polls said he is cruising now.

But, whenever I check things about Beto, everyone is saying they are voting for him.

Texas is weird for me. A lot of latinos are leaning to Republicans. I wonder why.

I associate Latin America with (often fanatical) Christianity.

I associate Conservative America with (often fanatical) Christianity.

Thus overlap.

A pro-2nd Amendment, economically centrist, small business owning, Afghanistan combat veteran, Democratic Party candidate for Governor of South Carolina is being called a socialist by people who aren’t even kidding about it when they say it.

Feck me running.

Republicans are a far right party.
