They began deliberately targeting the same people who allegedly had a roll in the "conspiracy" against Assange.

When he leaked stuff embarrassing to the U.S. govt and in some cases particularly the Obama administration he was a big hero to many.

Now those who hated him think better of him. Those who used to like him think poorly of him.
 
Is Trump being bankrolled by the Clintons? I mean no candidate has ever had such an easy ride to the White House as Hillary, it's almost like a procession, it beggars belief that the only alternative to her is Trump.

I think it says more about the Republicans that an candidate like Trump could steam roll the other candidates they put forward this year. Can you imagine losing to this guy in a election ? Someone should send the gop an cake with.. you reap what you sow on it after the election is done.

Precisely. People seem to forget that Trump obliterated Bush, Rubio, Cruz and another dozen or so opponents for the GOP nomination.

These guys couldn't handle schoolyard taunts like "Little Marco," "Lyin' Ted," and "Low-Energy Jeb," yet they were somehow going to demolish Hillary in a general election. Please.

Anything to discredit what now looks like a sure-fire victory for Hillary in November. "All right, so she beat our ass, but she wouldn't have if we had put up any of our other wonderful candidates."

The Republicans are ludicrously out of touch. It's hard to see how they come back from this anytime soon.

I understand that the optics look bad to some, but on the flip side, she got $12m for her charity by agreeing to speak at a conference. If I were part of her campaign, I'd just say that.

It's bizarre isn't it. The very worst of each respective party in contention for the presidency, with one essentially given a free ride all the way to the white house.

I suppose in some ways it's not unlike the situation with the Labour Party. Corbyn hasn't a chance in an election -his own party really don't want him to run in the election because it's a given he would lose but they are powerless to do anything and watch the carnage unfold.

Apparently Bill Clinton recommended to Trump that he run for President as a Republican. They don't call him slick Willie for nothing.

Yeah - baffled why he continued to be such a brash crazy screamer during his campaign when he had this approach in the locker.

He didn't have it in the locker in the beginning. Its been added after he sacked his first two campaign managers.

His ego and arrogance (of not listening to advisers or wise heads around him) will prove to be his downfall IMHO.

That video really does make it seem that the whole thing has been a ruse, by "the establishment" no less. Trump has been pushed to become the Republican candidate who will never be elected as he'll never capture the swing states.

It's not Wikileaks who steal documents. The sources are those who wrote the e-mails in the first place. Wikileaks the publishing media and hackers intermediaries. There is currently nothing to suggest the e-mails have been edited. There have been claims of discrepancies but as soon as anyone ask for examples they get their tongues twisted.

The leaks aren't much different to other leaks that have been published. Most of it is trivial and of no interest to anyone. It should be a no brainer though why the democratic process and public corruption in the most powerful nation on earth is mining gold.

Is that the Gettysberg one? I'm watching it now if so, I think ye might be giving him too much credit by comparing to his worst speeches. He still garbles sentences and Normal Trump would call this version of Trump low-energy...

Come again? Those who stole the documents are those who wrote them? And the hackers are mere "intermediaries"?

WikiLeaks has shown itself to be mainly a tool of Russia - why else do you think most of the leaked docs attempt to damage Clinton and help Trump?

Really though? There've been more than enough stories to suggest that isn't the case, and that he has been massively, massively propped up throughout his career, by his father and others. His failure to release his taxes makes it harder to know to what extent, but there have been a few journalists who've done some great dot-connecting to fill in some of the picture.

True but he's also had a few go bankrupt and some ventures that have failed. I think that since he built himself up, his money's probably been made more through his media personality than his business nous: for a while now he's been more celebrity than businessman.

I suspect Trump's always been arrogant and egotistical, but was able to reign it in enough in his younger years with it perhaps not being so bad compared to what it is now. His forceful personality probably helped him because the backup of money he had meant he didn't need to worry about his finances if he pissed anyone off. Years of surrounding himself with crackpots who agree with him and becoming a major public figure/celebrity have probably inflated that ego further and further to what we see now. It's maybe always been there...but the fact he's surrounded himself with a cult of followers has ironically allowed him to show his true, nasty self.
