2016 US Presidential Elections | Trump Wins

CNN are probably delighted. This will further increase ratings for an already hotly anticipated debate.

What are the odds of Bill Clinton storming the stage and dropping Trump with a right hook?

Extra odds for him shouting hadaaar! or HADOUKEN! as he does it.

I know he's a scumbag, but it was arguably a good move (or at least, his only available move). He's trying to shift and neutralize the discourse over his own sexual misconduct by reminding Hillary that he has women in the audience who claim her husband abused them (rape, in one case). And there doesn't even need to be any veracity to the claims, the job is already done.

A bullying tactic and real knuckle dragging stuff, but I can see why he did it.

I still don't think it's enough for him. The last throes of a desperate man.

I'm rewatching Ran as a warm-up to this.

The "I'm a scumbag but so is Bill Clinton" approach won't work. He needs to gain votes not lose them, which he almost certainly will after this.

The difference is that Clinton is only commenting on stuff Trump's done...not shit like this. The fact that these women 'claim' Bill has done this (irrespective of how true they are), and if it's false then it's just scummy, scummy shit beyond belief.

Feck me, one of the women up on stage signed a fecking affidavit saying that Bill Clinton did nothing wrong.

Trump is just using those women, he's an absolutely disgusting human. Even Fox saying he's lost the plot and that Politically it's stupid. This will humanise Hillary more and gain sympathy for her.

Trump is so tainted already that shining a light on what might be skeletons for Hillary, can't be highlight his own failings as a person. Ugliness won't work for him here IMO.

Not too undermine the women making the claims...but I find the fact they are all completely and utterly willing to appear onstage alongside Trump, someone who has made such demeaning remarks about women and who may have done the same, a bit suspect to say the least. Really, really ugly approach.

I didn't know about all of these allegations of sexual crimes until recently, how many of them do you suspect to be true?

And if her opponent were other than Trump, would this these or the paedophile case be important to you?

Definitely. It's bizarre, and I wonder what sort of demographic calculus they used to justify it (if any).

I agree, but I don't think Trump gives a feck if any of this is true. It just serves his motive.

But aside from the 12 year old who was raped, all the other women are there because of things Bill Clinton did and if anything that will surely only gain Hillary support because I feel extremely sorry for her. He's bullying her, flat out being a complete cnut to her. I surely can't be alone in thinking that?

I'm really not sure. There's some shady shit surrounding Bill - we already know he's certainly not the type to scoff at adultery and the added fact that he was a man of immense power and popularity means he's someone who could've gotten away with such stuff.

At the same time though...these women appearing on a platform with a man who's said similar, has allegations against him of a similar nature, and who has been on record making comments in which he seems to admit to sexual harassment of some form, makes me suspicious of them. Especially with the added, convenient endorsements of Trump. I don't know...maybe they're just desperate for a platform to venerate their anger against Bill, and Trump's given them that (in the same way he facilitates the anger of many disgruntled Americans), but there does seem to something dodgy around the allegations.

Either way it's just really, really disparaging to see in politics, which should be about policy first and foremost instead of this pantomime shite.

I feel sorry for their kid Chelsea too. I mean, I don't know much about her and maybe she's a bit of an arsehole herself, but seeing this sort of stuff being brought up against your dad on live, national news must be really, really hard to deal with. Just shite, shite behaviour all round from a man who's doing it for his own political advantage and nothing else.

This is very true. They can plead ignorance all they want, tonight is the culmination of a journey they started on a long time ago.

This is mental.

The only advantage I can see for Trump is if one of these women causes a scene during the debate and it, and Bill's indiscretions in general, becomes the next news cycle. Even then though I'm not sure it hurts Hillary.

Yup, I agree 100%

One thing for sure is that Chelsea and Ivanka wont be going round each others houses at Christmas anymore.

Yeah, I've seen the point made that while many of them may now disown Trump and turn against him, they've known what he was like from the start since he's done plenty of shit that's at least on a par with his lewd comments, and the fact they've continued to endorse him is their own fault. He's like a self-made monster, a culmination of all that's awful and hypocritical about the GOP which has now come back to bite them firmly in the arse.

I think that's completely it. The women have their agenda, Trump has his. They endorse him, he lets them get their message across to maximum exposure.

I wouldn't doubt the women based on the fact that they've used Trump (and vice versa), I'd just argue that it's not overly relevant. Well, except for the rape case in which Hillary defended said rapist, which itself, though not painting her in a great light, isn't massively troublesome. The United States' system is based upon innocent until proven guilty. It was her job to provide a man with defense, irregardless of whether or not she thought him to be guilty -- as neither she nor the state could prove it.

Didn't know they were friends. Again, though...shows Trump is willing to compromise his own daughters reputation and some of her friendships for his own political gain. Again, I know little of what Ivanka's like as a person, but if she's somewhat reasonable and normal this must be absurdly embarrassing for her.
