The people who voted for Trump are going to be massively disappointed. He is still fundamentally a corporatist liberal with socially progressive views. These Alt-Right hipsters, evangelicals, constitutionalists, interventionists et al will be sorely disappointed in what they get.
All based on opinion, as usual

Serious question, what are the chances of a riot or something of the sort? I'm heading to NYC on Saturday for a 2 week holiday.

Well he has Mike Pence to rectify that.

Fox news coverage is much better than CNN tonight. They're actually talking about issues and the day after, while Wolf and co. just stand there shell-shocked.

don't underestimate how stupid people can be.

though if stuff on wikileaks is true about DNC pushing away bernie, it's understandable why quite a good number of bernie supporters aren't voting for hillary.

It's way more than that IMO.

I think most Bernie supporters reluctantly voted for Hillary. That enthusiasm just didn't filter across to others. They didn't campaign for Hillary as much. Questions about Hillary were met with, "well, she's not as bad as Trump..."

It looks like the financial markets are all about to go kaboom at this news, so that's a brilliant way to start things off.

I'm almost in tears right now. I can't believe what my country is doing. I can't believe how absurdly ignorant and intolerant my country is.

Same here, man.

The only shining light for me is that I was always packing up and moving to Dubai in February. Any regrets I had about leaving the US are all gone now. The racists can have their country.

I don't follow politics and this may seem like it's picked from sensationalist made up headlines or something. How can an entire country vote for someone who said he wants to build a wall between the US and Mexico? (if its true)
Well we're about to elect Trump.

CNN clearly did not prepare for any kind of Trump win. They have nothing to say.

I think that, too. on the contrary trump himself and his supporters have looked more enthusiastic throughout the campaign as well, irrespective of whatever they were fighting for.

Everytime I've been to the US they seem the nicest people in the world, very welcoming and nice, I don't know what to think anymore.

The US stock market has been wobbly for an entire year. We needed an event that would nudge us towards the end of the business cycle and into a new recession and this was probably it.

Still cant get my head around how fecking terrible Hillary was..

Yep. Any halfway respectable democrat candidiate would have won this race at a canter. Bernie would have played him like a fiddle. The only thing that has allowed Trump's numerous scandals to sneak by is that Hillary is a crook herself.

Is there any chance that gets done? In a state where it would matter?

It's short by 105 votes. The big swing states won't sign on to it. Why should they reduce their clout and financial incentive from money pouring in every 4 years in ads?
