2016/2017 Title race

A game which Hazard singlehandedly won for us, who's coincidentally out for the game. :nervous:

We're nailed on to drop points tonight.

I see what you're trying to do here.

You'll win 4-0

Was that that mental cup night where he played like a living god?! I was actually there that night! :D:drool:

..and we still only won something like 4-3...

I didn't mention luck but for example the 6 points you won against Burnley and Southampton could very easily have been 2 but for two horrible calls.

Yes you've blown away the likes of Sunderland and West Ham recently though to boost the goal difference.

After the game where you say you were lucky against us, Bournemouth should have had a penalty to make it 2-2 in the following game. It's been small margins falling your way in games where you haven't looked that impressive.

Leicester was a draw, bellerin takes down Mussa but somehow the ref didnt see it.

It was a December fixture at night but wasn't a cup game. He had 2 goals and 2 assists that night, I remember Suarez scoring 4 the same day.

I'm not jinxing anything  .

After watching us against WBA and the past couple of weeks I'm no longer confident about our play. We've been riding our luck for a few weeks now. The team needs to start putting in proper performances again.

My feelings precisely. I can just about tolerate Conte winning it rather than guardiola, klopp or even Wenger.
Really? The only downside from Chelsea winning is us not winning. That's about it, I'm not in the least bit fussed about them (I was in the early Roman days but that was about sugardaddies and Mourinho, not Chelsea).

The further downisde with Arsenal is missing the lols. Also, one needs some certainties in life, like Wenger winning nothing. Same with Spurs and falling apart after February.

City and Liverpool are the no-nos.

Ah yes you're right! It was a week or two later we played them again in the league cup and lost 2-1.

That was the 4th December 2013.

5 - 1 at home to Norwich.

My bird went into labour that evening and things like that you dont forget.

14 games unbeaten just ruined by a fecking game. But it had to happen sooner or later. It's normal. What is not normal is Chelsea who keep on winning.

They've been brilliant. Conte must think this league is piss poor.

I can't fathom how well they're doing now. 12 wins in a row and only 2 goals conceded. It's just insane.

Which is good because we need them to win the title, since we're not going to!

Given up on the title?

A Spurs hammering wouldn't hurt.
Spurs away has been pretty tough for us the last few years. They'll give us a good match, I'm sure. We just have to be strong and hold out -- Pochettino will have his players trying to hurt us with strong challenges. Hopefully we get a ref that actually has a backbone and doesn't let Spurs get away with dirty stuff.

Definitely don't think he does and I'm glad. Conte strikes me as a manager who maniacally prepares for each game at a time and thinks only of the next opponent in front of us. He won't let our players start thinking the title is won in December and won't allow us to ease up.

If we can add another body or two in the January window I'd feel very, very confident about winning the league.

I had a thought yesterday that Chelsea might become the dominant force in English football now. We've fallen off and by the end of the season they could have won 2 of the last 3. They could be the Man Utd of the next 10 years.

Need a thread title change really. "Race" implies some sort of competition. ;)
don't get too cocky... we're not even half way through.
Also I can not see us having such an excellent second part of the season as the first one. City are still only six points away and they'll improve further.

You seem to have that knack to pull out good results against the top sides.

I think they will give you a good game but you will have just a bit too much.

Spurs are thugs and should be your biggest worry.Hopefully its not Clattenburg again.

Conte needs to prove himself in the CL first. At Juve, he started moaning we were a small car going against big tanks and therefore left the club, only for Allegri to reach the CL final the very next year by relying on Conte's foundation. He is doing well, now, marathons are his favourite game because he likes to control every aspect of his team. In the CL you cannot control much, you simply go out and fight because knockout rounds give no appeal.

No Kante and Costa yet the team still put in arguably their best performance of the season. Hazard was absolutely ridiculous today one of the best individual performances of the season, he was taking the piss out of Bournemouth for 90 minutes. Pedro also continued his great form at home.

The 12 wins is obviously incredible but conceding just 2 goals in the process is even more impressive to me.

That's quite similar to SAF, I think. He was much better as a league manager than in Europe. But i'm talking more about the club than about Conte. There seems to be a hole in English football right now and I wonder which team, if any, is going to fill it.

Content that they're going to win it but, it doesn't speak well for the rest of us.

They have been amazing so you can't take that away from Chelsea. However having no European football has significantly helped them against the likes of City and Arsenal who have had to manage both.

Just like how City really kicked on in 2014 after winning 2 out of the last 3.

I'd love the Europa league too.

Only European trophy we have never won.And we arent guaranteed 4th, so that could be a safety net.
Oh yeah, if i were you, i would give absolutely everything to win it.
