2016/2017 Title race

Looks like their luck finally ran out tonight. They've been been skating on thin ice for months & consistently getting away with it.

Ozil with one of the worst performances I've seen in recent memory.

You need luck to win the title. Nothing wrong with that. However, i don't see why being luck is a negative thing for Arsenal, while it's great for any other big team. Envious?

Why are you talking about Arsenal and winning the title in the same sentence?

He's a Chelsea fan...doubt he's envious!

Anyway I don't think Wenger has it in him to win a title. Do you think he is going to stay on after this season?

Sunderland seem to summon their best performance of the season against us, so I can't get excited about that Arsenal result yet...

Luck is such a bullshit argument made up by fans who have nothing insightful to add.

Every big team will have a little blip this season. Just look at Liverpool who looked unbeatable until one month ago or City who seemed to run away with the title in september.
It will on depend on how we finish the season, imo. Need to stay in the title race 'til the end to show some improvements.

They've beaten you twice in the league in like 10 years

You'll smash them tomorrow

Wenger always seems to come short somehow. I just hope that todays result has your team fired up for City on Sunday

Nothing wrong with occasionally having luck. You just can't keep consistently relying on it and expect not to get burned. They've been playing with fire for months but finally got what they've deserved today.

Who knows it could be a blessing in disguise for them like Chelsea getting embarrassed in successive weeks by Arsenal/Liverpool.

Can't believe people are already cheering for Chelsea in December. I want all teams above us to drop points in every game.

We've also scored a shedload of goals though. It's not like we've been mostly stumbling into lucky 1-0 wins.
Exactly. Second best attack in the league is too much to talk about luck. We were coming from these results: 3-1 against Bournemouth, 5-1 against West Ham, 4-1 against Basel and 3-1 against Stoke. So it's 15 goals in the last 4 games.

Moysey boys will smash Chelsea tomorrow.
I actually think we'll drop points. We've been underwhelming for weeks & haven't put in a consistent 90 minute performance since Everton over a month ago.

Is it just me or does Sunderland beat Chelsea at least once a season?

Arsenal have been riding a wave of favourable decisions since the start of the season which have significantly boosted their points total to date. Of the top 5 they've looked the weakest to me so far and tonight's result wasn't that surprising.

However, after the City game they have an excellent run of fixtures which I doubt they'll drop many points in.

I can only say we were lucky against you. If having a +20 GD and 37 goals scored is a sign of luck i rest my case.

I didn't mention luck but for example the 6 points you won against Burnley and Southampton could very easily have been 2 but for two horrible calls.

Yes you've blown away the likes of Sunderland and West Ham recently though to boost the goal difference.

After the game where you say you were lucky against us, Bournemouth should have had a penalty to make it 2-2 in the following game. It's been small margins falling your way in games where you haven't looked that impressive.

I forgot about those two games. Good call.
Haven't we always said you need to grind out results to look a real title contender? I remember how United use to perform many results like these in the past. Yes, a lot of people have complained about this, but the champions find their luck, losers not.

You do, and you can't take the points off you now which will put you in good stead going forward. I just think your rivals for the title have looked more convincing.

Yeah it's a bit early for that. Be a great story if we made a come back from here, unlikely as it is it's far from impossible.

Chelsea have arguably an easy month. Not literally but in terms of quality they're facing. All bottom 10 ish

This is a more drilled and mentally focused team under Conte. I expect Sunderland to get given a pasting. The only fixture I don't see them winning is Spurs away. Draw that.

Liverpool away end of Jan I think they'd win if played tomorrow. Interesting Jan to come.

Sorry meant to quote someone and can't find their post now lol

If I had to put money down now on a bet it'd be Chelsea winners. Liverpool 2nd. Man city 3rd. Arsenal/utd 4th and 5th in whatever order. Spurs 6th.

I'm still not convinced by city right now under Pep so wouldn't rule out 4th for them.

Yeah, sometimes a kick in the nuts is what you need.
Wenger needs a new coat

I think we will come 3rd. City and Liverpool can't defend at all

You really think liverpool will come above Arsenal? Arsenal take a shit on liverpool in quality

It's not that

I am pretty convinced that we have no chance of winning the league at all. And I think we will drop even more points this week.

Chelsea are simply a lesser evil. I can't stand the possibility of Liverpool winning the league. That almost broke me in 2014.

My feelings precisely. I can just about tolerate Conte winning it rather than guardiola, klopp or even Wenger.
