2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season

Why did I tip North? Why? Adelaide looked good. Tex looked very, very good.

fecking hell norf.

Also St kilda choked in the last few minutes :(, We need billings and webster back.

Hawthorn vs Geelong has been must watch since 2008, hopefully another close game.

Good luck to the rest of the competition after watching Hawthorn today. Luckily it's only round one.

Hawthorn means business. Birchall is to come back into the team too.

Didn't miss much. I spent the majority of the second half in the Frank Grey.

I got to watch it there but it's obviously not the same. Can't complain too much though, it's been a farqing great weekend for us.

I know it's one game, but Geelong not finishing top 4 is not inconceivable.

They will struggle this season.

I think Hawthorn, Sydney and Port Adelaide are locks for top four positions (at this stage). Then there are several teams vying for that last top 4 position, and even a top 8 position too - Fremantle, Geelong, Richmond, Adelaide and Essendon. I'd have put North Melbourne right up there too but I think that smashing against Adelaide will take it's toll, even if it's round one.

Geelong are relying on their oldies more than ever, and unlike Hawthorn's oldies they seem to have dropped a level. Bartel, Enright, Taylor and Kelly all looked too slow (none of them were quick to begin with), unskilled and rushed. They've lost their composure. Only Johnson looked good for his age, but he's losing the plot. Meanwhile Burgoyne (what a player, so god damn underrated he's insane), Hodge, Gibson, Lake and Mitchell all look great and Hodge especially looks fitter than I've ever seen him.

They rely too heavily on Hawkins kicking a bag, and Selwood dominating in midfield. Selwood had one of his worst games, probably ever, for Geelong yesterday and no one else stood up.

Another point of concern, or at least something that shows the disparity between Hawthorn and Geelong now - they had one of their top three players last season, and next shining light in midfield in Duncan, chasing Brad Hill's shadow all game. Why put your best up-and-coming midfielder, who is coming off the back of a career season, tagging the player with the smoothest wheels in the AFL? Why make that sacrifice for a player they really needed the drive in midfield from. It was a stalemate that Hawthorn could easily afford, but Geelong just couldn't.

For Geelong to exceed expectation they really need Caddy, Guthrie, Motlop and Duncan are the next group of players that need to take the next step up this season.

Didn't go. Stayed home and watched with Dad. Was a good day though. We seem to be getting a lot of praise from the media/opposition fans but I thought we were pretty average to be honest. We played two quarters of good footy but were still sloppy at times. Our goal-kicking was really inaccurate too.

First quarter we weren't marking their runners through the middle and our disposal was a bit off, round one rustiness I'd say. If we'd kicked straight it would've been 100 points. Still, we beat Geelong by 10 goals.

We really should have buried those last quarter chances. I hope it was just tired legs in the last, and I sincerely hope efforts like that don't cost us in other big games.

Dipper and Dermie - two of the hardest men ever. Both had outstanding mullets... Coincidence? I think not.

Dermie is such a shit commentator anyway.

He was giving McCartin stick for not being as fit as Nick Riewoldt.

I still love Dermie, though by god he likes the sound of his own voice. He likes to come across as intellectual too and in doing so takes 5 minutes to say something you could explain in 10 seconds.

However, he does raise some very interesting questions or points from time to time. He is obviously a 'deep thinker' of the game... If he stopped waffling he would be much more presentable.

I really feel he will struggle when he gets no more media gigs and may go the way of Kapper.

I will always love him for what he did for the club and how much of an absolute boss/supreme champion he was on the field. He was my dad's favourite player back in the day too. You can tell he really loves Hawthorn still and is just proud to be involved in anything Hawks-related.

Love Derm. His commentating annoys me though, for the reasons already stated.

I didn't think BT was that bad on Saturday in lions collingwood game. Probably because Luke Darcy was doing some calling too.

I think he's been told to tone it down.

I remember back in the day BT, Lyons and Brayshaw were excellent on the radio for MMM.

Hodge charged him in that gif, he had no eyes for the ball too

Edit: he shoved over whoever kicked the ball at the start and then steam-trained it into Johnson

Your right Archie, Johnson is a dirty cheap player who is long due his comeuppance. It's a shame since he is so damn good though.

How many non Hawthorn fans do we have in this thread? I though Johnson should have got a week for hitting Sam Mitchell from behind like he did. Pretty cheap for me.

Saints man here Johnson should of been out for a week.

However the MRP is now going to be more lenient for any incidents due to Fyfe last year.

Round 2:
West Coast vs Carlton
Richmond vs Bulldogs
GWS Giants vs Melbourne
Collingwood vs Crows
Gold Coast
vs St Kilda
Port Adelaide vs Sydney
Geelong vs Fremantle
Hawthorn vs Essndon
North Melbourne vs Brisbane

Winners in bold, home teams on the left. Only picking one away win. Don't feel Geelong can be as bad again.

I'm on 7 after round one (tipped GC and Brisbane). Maybe I should keep a rolling tally for everyone on here?

Here's my round two tips... This week is even harder than last week, with about 6 50/50 games:

West Coast v Carlton - no Key Backs for WC, but they have home advantage

Richmond
v Western Bulldogs - Doggies showed a lot last week, no Deledio for Richmond

Greater Western Sydney
v Melbourne - 50/50, giving it to the home team

Collingwood v Adelaide - Adelaide should win if they play even half as good as last week. The big Texan to put on another show and monster Collingwood's defence.

Gold Coast
v St. Kilda - Gold Coast should be hungry after last week's disappointment

Port Adelaide
v Sydney - Match of the round, should be an awesome game. C'mon Robbie Gray, what a player to watch.

Geelong v Fremantle - Will Geelong respond? Dropping Motlop was brave, though despite their home ground advantage I think Fremantle should be too strong.

Essendon v Hawthorn - Please give me the perfect start to the season with a spanking of Geelong and Essendon

North Melbourne
v Brisbane - 50/50 game. Both teams need to respond after poor losses. Brisbane have an insane midfield now but will probably need time to click. Rockliff out is a huge loss too, such a hardarse of a player.
