2010 2011 College football thread

Most teams use backhanders to tempt top recruits, usually via parents. I bet that is going on in most conferences.

The players should get paid based on appearances and position. Its crazy a colleges can generate near NFL levels of revenue from football and the players get none of it.

Errr, don't you think performance might be a slightly better way to determine that. Individual and team.

Big play by Fairley there with the sack.

Oregon with a FG, 3-0

jveezy you are approaching 10k impressive, I remember it took you ages to get a grand

That throw was short, but come on, division 1 footballers need to know how to catch the fecking ball great play call,

This game is quality reminding me of the USC-Texas one in 2006

I want Fairley on the Broncos he's good and dirty both good things in a defender

Huge stop by Auburn at the 1, turnover on downs; Oregon have had trouble in the red zone because of the size of the Auburn defense

The playcalling at the goal line has been atrocious, apart from those last two plays when they needed it.

Exciting finish now. 2 minute drill for Newton.

Why kick with 10 seconds left?

They never were going to do that I have no idea in feck what Musberger and the other guy were talking about the Chizik played it completely correctly, run a play after Oregon took there last time and then run the clock so you could kick the FG on the last play.

What's Cam's bonus for the National Title? Another 200k?

By "God" Cam means his dad is using him.

Good game for the neutral, and the better team won. Oregon relied on 4th down conversions, trick plays and a couple of deep passes to keep it close. Auburn totally dominated the battle of the trenches. The score flatters the Ducks IMO.

Credit to the players of both teams after the game. Some great shots of good sportsmanship.

Nah, they set up to kick before Oregon called the timeout.

Yeah the clock was running they were going to kick but not with ten seconds, more like 3 and it would have ran out. The clock restarted that is why Oregon called a timeout...

Not for college. We aren't talking about making them millionaires, just giving them a fair reward for all the effort. And that must include all players on the roster because they train everyday and sacrifice just as much without the game day glory.

BTW - the sports radio host this morning had a list of the salaries of the guys that organize the bowls. Some of them were getting over $500k to work on one bowl game all year. Even the crappy bowls pay someone $300k to be the organizer.

Oh yes, and if anyone missed it the SEC took the national crown for the 5th straight year. ;)
