Nialler said:its all about putting the ball over the bar or in the net, Tyrone probably didn't have a great day which was evident in the 1st half, Dublin didn't have a great day either with another almost catastrophic 2nd half collapse.
There is no argument that Tyrone are the better team, they won an All-Ireland in 2003 and are still up there as one of the top 3 sides in the country. They should win the replay. Dublin are a fairly young team trying to make the breakthrough at this level. They are moving in the right direction and are certainly a lot better than they have been over the last two seasons.
Fair enough, there's been an improvement.....not sure about the young team trying to make the breakthrough, but one thing at time. Cluxton (even though he's still young), Christie, Goggins, Whelan, Moran, Brogan, Sherlock, Andrews, Homan, Connell, Cosgrove, Farrell and others...they've all been this far before, several times in fact for some of them. Did you not see Pat Spillane making the point to a very uncomfortable Tommy Lyons that he was mystified as to the progression in Dublin this year, seeing as the panel was more or less the same as for previous years.....by Tommy's face, you'd swear he looked like he'd had a bad pint or something, not impressed at all. I'm not knocking Dublin too much, but you have to admit, some of the early season cannyness has gone right out the friggin' window now.....all it took was one game, that ye didn't even win, and in fact were blessed to even get a draw.
ah jaysus....here we go.....I like this quote from Eamonn Sweeney in the Sunday Indo,
Nialler said:"Two unique things about Dublin football. There is no roll like a Dublin roll, the crowd going mental, the players feeding off the joy of having the most vociferous spectators in the country, every move stamped with unmistakable confidence. A Dublin roll goes over everything in its path, sporting logic is helpless before it. It is a force of nature.
There is no collapse like a Dublin collapse. Armagh 2003, Westmeath 2004, a hat-trick of catastrophe was nearly completed by Tyrone in 2005. When Tyrone moved a couple of points clear with time running out having trailed by 5 points at half-time, Dublin looked like men trying to run while waist deep in water. We were treated to the too familiar sight of a team from the capital suffering the equivalent of a collective nervous breakdown.
But these are different Dubs. Under Tommy Lyons they developed the knack of losing games they should have won. Under Paul Caffrey they've become more adept at getting out of jail than the Colombia Three.
Dublins name might not be on this years championship but its engraved somewhere in the vicinity."
If, and its a big if, Dublin can make the "roll" last for 70 minutes who knows.
See. ....what in the bejaysus is he talking about?
