Well he's an idiot with no balls or respect for the club.
Forget the deserter. Our best spell last season was without him in the team. Let's get behind those who want to play for United.
If we can't find high profile replacements, maybe the club should figure out why we've stopped producing them.

Which possibly makes our decision to sign him even more questionable. We might just have spent 60 million on a player whose heart wasn't fully into playing for us. Luckily were getting mow for it back but it reflects poorly on the management.

That's the thing, yes.

Sometimes shit simply happens, it would be unreasonable to blame either Woody or LVG for a force majeure situation of some sort - Di Maria suddenly having a breakdown, reacting unprecedentedly to whatever it might be, something happening on a purely personal level (family issues) - but if it turns out that he really didn't want to be in Manchester in the first place, that is 100% on the management. You don't sign a player for that kind of money if there's a major question mark over his head.

How on earth can you expect them to know he didn't want to come?

This does kinds of set a precedent though. Any nutter fans now know they can possibly get rid of their rivals star players by breaking into their homes!

Oddly, as cnuty as he has been, I'd still prefer him to stay, and for LvG to tell him to stfu and just deal with it. You don't sign a 5 year deal only to run away 10 months later. Plenty of players have been told to sit down and shut up, and it's been of a benefit to them and their performances. I think this has happened too late in the window to replace him adequately. I'm aware our best spell came without him, but we're still playing Young and Mata on the wings. One is an above-average quality winger, and the other isn't a winger at all.

Er...because it's part and parcel of what they - presumably - do? If you're going to pay sixty million for a footballer, I presume you do some kind of research before signing him.

Of course, but we're a football club not a detective agency.

If he's not being completely forthright and the signals are that he wants to join then its on Di Maria, not us, if he doesn't want to join.

Woody took over with no relevant experience. He's learning on the job. Unfortunately his education is at our expense.

Maybe someone can explain it to me but how could food be a problem ? Someone as rich as him can hire a chef who specializes in the dishes he loves, he could also have someone order special ingredients from any place in the world to eat whatever he wants or find any other solution.

We can't explain it, it makes no sense, footballers are just stupid. With money you could live like an american in the middle of the Sahara.

I disagree. If he and his family weren't excited about coming to England in the first place, and then narrowly avoid a break in while they are at home with their child, that would be more than enough to reaffirm their desire to be there in the first place, especially if AdM's services are wanted elsewhere.

I get what you are saying but is ADM really that stupid that he thinks these are not things that happen everywhere? Maybe he believes in fate and thinks it's some sort of sign he shouldn't be there as you say but it's incredibly naive for him to think that moving to Paris is going to make things any different in that regard.

I could understand if this was a choice between living in Iraq or living in Paris but to justify the move to Paris based on him being concerned about his family's safety in Manchester can only be done by a man who has never spent time in Paris.

Yes, but we don't deal with him alone when signing him. We deal with his agents, his former club, we have representatives who deal with other representatives - and so forth. The idea here is that Di Maria wanted Paris to begin with - if that's the case, I find it unlikely that we didn't know about this.

What this looks like - at this stage - is a case of signing a misfit. That doesn't reflect well on the people who spent sixty mill on him - it's very hard to see it any other way without further details.

It is hard to get used to post Fergie Utd

The most expensive purchase in the clubs history is AWOL and wants out, along with our best player from last season

Happy days

Reminds me of the summer of 2009 :D

Best team in the world then, we're ruthlessly thrown aside and toyed with by Barcelona, Ronaldo wants out, Tevez pricks us about and we get Owen and some guy with a big head.

Granted, we haven't got some guy with a big head yet but, Big Basti's knee issues could make him the new Owen :D :(

 Chances are he likes his home country dishes and probably some from Spain. Even if I have never been in Manchester, I've no doubt there are some good restaurants who specialize in these recipes.
I can understand missing a certain environment, friends, family and even the bloody weather  but food ??? Hell no.

This does kinds of set a precedent though. Any nutter fans now know they can possibly get rid of their rivals star players by breaking into their homes!

Manchester is far from an unsafe city to live in for a footballer, despite what happened to him. It's a fantastic city to play football in infact, especially for a United player.

Also you can guarantee the club won't take wont happened lightly either. More than likely steps have already been taken to do their best to stop something like that happening again.

I'm now fully expecting Rojo and Romero to f*ck us off in someway, pair o' bastards.
Romero looks as dodgy as feck. Don't know why we didn't take care of the goalkeeping issue the day after the season ended in May but it's a bit late in the day to bring in a big name goalie and expect him to slot right in. Maybe we'll see some activity before the window shuts but De Gea's position should have been sorted long ago.

Sorry if this has been asked, but what happens when a player, who signs a 5 years contract, goes AWOL ?
Do we get some sort of refund/payment for non fulfillment of contract ?

I feel like I should know but don't.

Duncan Ferguson kicked feck out of some burglars in his house didn`t he ? Thats the kind of attitude .

Er...because it's part and parcel of what they - presumably - do? If you're going to pay sixty million for a footballer, I presume you do some kind of research before signing him.

What kind of research though? Seriously? Are we talking Myers-Briggs? Rorschach tests?

At the end of the day it's fecking hard getting a deep understanding of the character of any new hire, in any industry. He'll have been signed on the basis of his talent as a footballer. The fact he's a bit of a soft lad, who evidently loathed life in Manchester is one of those unfortunate things that you can't blame anyone for failing to predict.

Yeah but to be fair Duncan Ferguson has kicked feck out of everyone that he's ever met. It's his version of a handshake.

We shouldn't be afraid to say that he simply wasn't good enough for us or for this league.
At the start of the year the opponents stood off him because it was wow! Di Maria! Soon as they started putting him under pressure he crumbled. He didn't have Ronaldo and Bale running interference to create space for him, nor was his work rate unique as it was in Spain.
That's what he was known for. Putting in the same work rate in he 80th minute as he did in the 8th. Yet that isn't such a strength in England since most midfielders he faced all worked hard.
Soon as he faced that same pressure he crumbled.
So far he's only performed for that 6 month spell at Madrid. That's it. It's not as if were losing Iniesta here with years and years of proven excellence that we mis managed. It's like us bidding 60m for Turan or Carzola and wondering why it didn't work out.
Goodbye Angel, you're taking the easy way out and you won't be missed. Yet to do it in a Messi / Ronaldo less team. I can see why

Yeah, agreed. I think this may well go down as a player who just didn't have the attributes needed to excel in the premier league. And that is something I would blame the management for.

how often can you fine a player? Is it once a fortnight, or once a week?

Hopefully we're doing that while he's pissing about. We could probably make a million or so back!
