I gave up on him basically... And there's no point keeping him if he wants to go... He's world class at his best, and I kept holding out hope that he'd get back to that. Obvious now looking back though that the main reason he did poorly was that he just wanted to be somewhere else, so there's no point keeping him as he would produce the same type of performances most likely.

Exactly. After the excellent season he had for us and the fact that he is a year younger than he was when he joined we should definitely ask PSG to pay more than we paid for him (because the deal will likely be in euros £46m will have covered our fee already).
