Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

You must really overrate Rashford then

Not really, Morata is a seriously unimpressive striker. He has some good work rate through which might be why Jose wants him but overall he is closer to a 25-30M player than a 50M+ one.

Here you go muppets, time to get your cocks out. He's exactly what we need in front of goal.

Great, but unless he scores at a better rate than 28 in 46 (Ibra's figures) then we won't be any better off than last season without goals from elsewhere.

Can't wait for us to sign the Turkish Welbeck. Hope we go for Belotti - the Nigerian Giroud - too

25 strikers, 28 midfielders, 30 defenders is my notion. But in the end it's different from player to player.
That is just wrong. Peak at 25 would mean
- CR7 was at his peak in 2010 scoring only 26 goals in la liga
- Suarez was at his peak in 2012 scoring 11 goals in PL for Liverpool
- Lewandowski art his peak scored 20 goals for Dortmund

and so many others

This is a key area I am looking for massive improvement this season. I would want Miki, Mata and Martial to score good amount of goals this season.

Anyone come up with any songs yet for out Italian stallion?

I didn't realise how poor his goal scoring was for Juventus, 15 in his first season only 12 the next, hope that was due to his age

Can't believe people are not excited about this. I don't see too many better options for us I mean Jesus lads were not going to sign Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo or a player of that ilk lets be honest but he impressed me anytime I watched him play for Juve. I suppose he's not good enough for us because he's not first choice for the best team in the world this season? There's a Zlatan sized hole in our squad and who's better to fill it for us that is genuinely attainable?

Gathering a little bit of momentum this, I think he would be quality for us. I have a feeling not everyone will be satisfied with our transfers this summer(unlike last year). I think Morata is quality and will fit in well, his conversion rate is good. There are not many good options left and he's been good whenever called on. He's a good age and had a great stint in Italy in the past(scoring in a CL final). I find it disrespectful that people are calling him the spanish Welbeck, he's not always injured and is much more clinical than Danny. I think the potential transfer fee is putting people off, each to his own I suppose.

Which I'd hope would be an indication to ypu that personnel wasn't our proven. Or is Defoe a better option than Martial, Rashford and Morata then?

Morata plays as 1st choice. Defoe as a sub.

Rashford and Martial rotate with others for wing/wide forward spots and striker spot.

I am not super excited. I was never super excited about RvP. In fact, it took me a long time to feel he was one of us and not one of them.
And I was super excited about Di Maria coming to Utd and look how that turned out.

Hope he does excellently well here.

PS: All those super excited people should not forget that, if he comes, it will be first season for him in PL. So don't lose your knickers when he is unable to meet your lofty expectations

I don't expect him to tear the league apart, or him becoming instant world class, but I am pretty damn excited of the prospect that we could have a team with DDG as a keeper, Bailly in defense, Pogba in midfield and hopefully Morata in attack.

All young players that should hit their peak in the very near future and at the same time. That's something I look forward to.

So now we're continuing to shoe horn our two biggest talents into the side out wide. If we are to bring Perisic into the side then along with Mata, Mhkitaryan and the returning Pereira someone is going to be very unhappy, all of those players are better players than an ancient Defoe.

Why not? We're the richest club in the world according to KPMG - if we can't sign these players, who can?

It's just silly to look at how many goals he scored, remember he played with Ronaldo, who starts crying if anyone else scores.

I don't follow La Liga, but I trust Mourinho knows the player, and has a plan with the players he signs.
There's also not many fantastic 9's around anymore, most top teams get their goals from the RW,LW, AM's too, and use their 9 in build up play.

I didn't realise how poor his goal scoring was for Juventus, 15 in his first season only 12 the next, hope that was due to his age

Then again the goal tallies have traditionally been relatively low in Serie A. Plenty of players have topped the scoring charts with 20-22 goals.

Clubs that doesn't operate as a business and who doesn't have to balance their books.

Think about the financial package it would take to sign one of those, it isn't feasible.

We could have another 60 games in the league. Martial is not a striker, he's a wide forward. Rashford is, but 3 strikers is fine. We can rotate them with others like I said. We struggled last season with an arguably better line up (Ibra instead of Moratta) what makes you think we're not gonna struggle this season?

Martial and Rashford are too young to be counted upon. Defoe would only be here for 1/2 years like Ibra.

If I had billions, I could have money to buy the Buckingham Palace. But if no one is selling it to me, I will not be able to buy it.

Dnt understand all the negativity around Morata. Yes, he is not what u call top-bracket yet but if you have seen him play then you will know that he is easily in top 5-7 strikers in Europe. Being a second choice is not because he is not capable to lead the line, its because Madrid is CR7 place and he likes playing with Benzema.

If you have seen Madrid play this season, then you would notice that CR7 is almost playing as a striker. Benzema makes the run to vacate the striker position and takes a defender with him and that makes space available to CR7 to run into. Morata doesn't do that. He takes up that space. Also, Benz is better when it comes it creating chances for CR7, specially from left hand side of attack. And thats why my friends, Benz starts ahead of Morata. But, I am pretty sure if this was CR7 of 4-5 years ago, when he was playing as winger, creating as many chances as scoring, then Morata would have been the first choice.

When Zizou played second choice team to rest the stars, Morata has been brilliant. He even came from bench to save Madrid on more than few occasions. Real are the team to win most points from loosing positions(comebacks) in la-liga this season and Morata has a big hand to play in that. Even yesterday in friendly against Colombia, Morata scored a fantastic header to equalize.

If Real are asking 60m for him, I wldnt say its a bad deal considering VVD was quoted at 70m. Yes, many players have come with reputation and big money and failed in EPL, but then you take that chance with each transfer.

So my fellow reds, transfer window has not even opened yet. Have some faith in Jose and enjoy other sports till the start of season. French Open has been good, F1 is competitive again after 5-6 years. So chillllllll and enjoy the summer :):):)

This will break my heart, i just know it

Try to look at it through the eye's of said players would you leave a current top 5 club to join the current united who since Fergie left I doubt are even top ten. We're bound to get back to the top eventually but I just don't see us having that draw right now. Money cant buy you anything and fair does were the richest club in the world but the other top clubs aren't exactly skint.

Doesn't always work like that. Morata can potentially get team mates involved more, rush the opposition defense more, help us play a faster pace and be more clinical when it matters. All possible.

I think it's a good signing for the team and for the player.

We lost Ruud and didn't have a better goal scorer immediately but went from league cup win to premier league win.

Why was this the case? To beat City to him and the fact that we got him from Arsenal after his best season - That was enough to get me super excited. And he was amazing for about 6/7 months.

Few times we've been around that chat
Morata I ain't no Wel-a-beck girl
He ain't no Wel-a-beck girl
He is also not Italian

To the tune of Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani :nervous:

Based on one run against Bayern some think he is the second coming of Ronaldo9, if it was something he could do consistently, Benzema wouldnt play a game.

Benzema is preferred because he allows Ronaldo to flourish, it really is that simple. Morata has been better for Madrid than Benzema has, recently. Morata's whole game isn't based around getting the best out of Cristiano, Benzema's is.

I was just writing something similar When I saw this. He's a great player but he just doesn't look like a natural finisher. Except for his heading. Can't say I'm an expert but he feels like he should be either side of the central striker.
Could easily use him there because Valencia's stamina and work rate provides us good width on the right.

It's just once source that says we're in for both, but it makes sense in so many ways now that Zlatan news is confirmed and Rooney won't be playing a major role. Plus, Jose has done the same with Eto'o. If we can find a way to make it work, we'll be devastating.

Any YouTube highlights of him against parked bus defences?

I think 90% of teams park the bus when playing Madrid. Juve and Spain. He won't have a problem playing here.

I was never that excited over him either. In fact, I remember actively not wanting him. :nervous:

Then again, he severely declined after his one season.

I'm with you, never fancied Italians doing well in the PL.
Agree. United has done that in the past and it didn't work as well as we thought it would be, considering the rep and huge fees. This has Veron written again all over it.

Very, very excited about this signing. Hopefully we can agree a few with Real Madrid.

He is strong, fast, classy on the ball, great header, superb finishing, good footballing brain and is at the right age. He may be a tad overpriced, but that's how the market is right now. The most important thing for us supporters is that our team gets the injection of quality we need.

The comparisons with Welbeck and Giroud is some of the most ridiculous stuff I have read on a football forum. Just lazy, and shows a total lack of knowledge of the player.

I have confidence in Mou's ability in the transfer market, and Morata will prove that in abundance if he comes to Old Trafford.

Not really poor either is it? Nothing special though true. Still scored in big games.

I am not exactly sure. I generally did not like Arsenal players by default. And then I felt RvP having a good season was an aberration and he would get injured soon and be back on the hospital bed.
