Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

Feels like we're being used as a stalking horse for Chelsea...would be a great striker for Mou though.

He isn't one of the best players though. His record in front of goal apart from this season when he's been backup is pretty awful. He could merely be on a good run aided by being in a fantastic team. Prior to this year he was basically a Spanish welbeck.

Having said all of that Morata is a more exciting transfer to me than Lukaku at least. If his improvement in front of goal is genuine and he reproduces this next season under the pressure of being the star striker, then that'd a better striker than Lukaku would be given his all round game is much better. And he wouldn't cost 70 million either.
To be honest I havent a clue whether hes the best fit for us or not, I was answering the ludicrous statement that if any player from Madrid would be perfect for us, we should go for an inferior one elsewhere so we dont give Madrid money.

No matter how good he is, since he is not starting at Madrid, he is a Madrid reject and we should not get him. Buying him would also give Madrid more money. We are better off with a player of lesser quality who is not from Madrid.

Next time when you try to be sarcastic mention it because people thought you're talking seriously.:lol:

Stop with the made up stats.

- Morata started 12 league games for RM this season and scored 10 of his 15 goals in those starts. He only played more than 80' in half of them too.
- Of the 5 sub-appearance goals he scored, 3 were literally the winning goals as the game was tied at the time.
- Only 2/15 goals scored were in sub appearances of a "finished" game

But I guess Mainoldo from the caf has already made up his mind on the player so never mind the reality.

Don't come in here with your stats and then when challenged come back with cold, hard, supporting facts.

Are you new on the caf mate? Do you know how we operate?! In the words of michael gove, we've had enough of experts.

Hes a bloody spaniard who plays in games of 10 all every week. Give the number 9 job to an honest, hard working premier league player like lukaku. He knows how tough it is here.

:wenger:

5 goals in 32 league matches is not good enough. I know he is young but no way we can go to next season without signing a striker like a poster I replied to suggested.

He hasn't had anywhere near 32 games actually for 90mins and actually in his main position though.
That's a poor stat to use.

Not to mention that the whole team put in their lowest figures in almost living memory (ignoring the 100 goals stat that was hyped up by playing 62 games!)

A really good player. My only concern is if he can score and play here to the best of his ability.

Its a risk no doubt about it. If he could settle and perform he'd be a really good signing. If not and there is no way of knowing this without trying him, it could be a huge mistake.

Can we take that chance? Do we have a choice?

Well, he was part of this problem, don't you think so?

I think he is a good player. Has all the qualities but his stats are a worry for the right reasons. I know the caveats but he might have too much to do all alone.

I've got a sneaky feeling we are going to end up with morata and Rodriguez from Real Madrid with De gea going the other way.

Would be a good deal imo
I think they are worth a punt too. But would be of the opinion to pay cash not an exchange. Not like we cant pay clost to the 100M they'd probably cost. I think i read 45M for Hamez and 50M for Morata.

Why sell someone who dont want to go. In fact offer him a new bigger 5 year deal. Put down a marker of our intent.

Choice is clear. To come here as a starter or fight for a place at Madrid.

Trouble is he doesn't want to leave, at all. He was interviewed after the game last night and said he'd ideally like to stay at RM. Plus it sounds like, if he is forced to leave RM, United aren't his first choice destination.

We've been here before, haven't we?

£££ can convince anyone.

Seems very plausible. But a little too much honour involved with the De Gea fax-saga to just straight up selling him to us in a normal way.

He seems to have very nice positioning game and would be great on counters.

+ He will never be 1st choice at Real. Might as well face it. After Benzema it Will be Mbappe

Umm, did you watch the interview?
He was never gonna say i am leaving. Remember "i stay" From ronaldo?
He said something along the lines of he dint see himself in italy, he would like to stay but its not in his hands and he does not have a deal with Milan.

He'd absolutely rip it up in the premier league. He's a top player just waiting for the right platform to become one of the best strikers in the game.

That I disagree with.

1. If DDG is unwilling to join Madrid, they would not continue their pursuit. His silence is telling compared him simply coming out to quench it
2. It is unsettling for the club to have to deal with these rumors almost every summer.
3. The bumper deal they gave him last time as not prevented Madrid from coming back for him
4. DDG is already overpaid for a GK. Other top GKs dont earn as much: DDG £200k, Neuer €150k, Courtois £120k, Navas £55k, Buffon €80k, Cech £100k
5. The value of a GK to the success of a team is far less than outfield players. Examples: both Buffon and Neuer saw their teams sent out by Madrid with Navas in goal, no heroics from Courtois could salvage Chelsea's dreadful season and we just won the Europa with Romero in goal.
6. Paying cash, would likely be more expensive as teams interested (even if not genuinely) in either of those players can drive up their price, while we can use the lure of DDG to get a better deal.
7. With Morata+James we add 2 players that will upgrade our attack significantly, and we can focus on strengthening other areas
8. Even if we dont have a WC keeper, with a potent attack and a solid defence we can still get by for 1 or 2 seasons with someone like Romero or Hart.
9. Long term we can look at getting Donnarumma or another young keeper.

I like him. A lot.

Would prefer him to all other strikers that we're linked.

Just have a worry that it would also certainly involve DDG in negotiations and complicated things in a way that transfer could drag for most of the summer, especially if he is not so sure about joining us.

Nobody cares

Nearly all united fans want him to stay. Nobody cares what he gets paid it, effects nothing. It is true everyone is replaceable... but tell me

How are we supposed to build a world class team if we keep selling our best players of which DDG is, no doubt? It sets a precident that we are a stepping stone club, Fcuk that!

Morata is not a great enough player for us to take a risk in signing when he doesn't seem interested in joining the club. We have been here before with Di Maria (who is and was a better player).

Pretty sure we said the same about Angel di Maria and that quickly turned ugly, literally.
Well under LVG most signings turned out to be very poor. Mourinho has a better record of buying players that come in and do well right away. He knows Morata well from his Real days. Morata is also known to do the dirty work with tracking back while also being technically brilliant and is 6'2 in height so if we got him I'd bet my house on him hitting the ground running right away

To be fair, Di Maria actually did really well in the first few months. His talent was and is always there. The temperament was lost - part down to him being a twat, and part down to van Gaal being a loon. Di Maria was never truly compatible with van Gaal, really. Seemed like van Gaal sanctioned it but he never really had a set vision where di Maria seemed to play a key part in.

Contrast to the scenario here; you'd think Mourinho - who really wants Morata - will have a very good relationship with the player and wants him as his starting 9.

I agree, I'd love morata here, not sold at all on James tho and we should do everything possible to ensure DDG stays not only because of how we good he is but we need to send the message to Madrid they are not welcome to buy our best players.
