He's good value for free as a stop-gap. Besides, it's not diffiult for an aM to play DM if need be. We have plenty of options there.

That's another 40m on top of the transfer fee, the Higuain deal would probably have been a bit cheaper.
I wouldn't put it past us to have signed him on a 3 year deal.

1. Why would Real sell Ozil? He's one of their best players, regardless of Bale coming in.

3. Arsenal don't even go near to the wage demands Ozil would like.
4. Also don't they need defender, full back, and a striker much more than Ozil?

Mertesacker would be bloody fantastic if he had any pace - without it he's OK.

Ozil's a great player but with Bale and Isco coming in over the summer, they probably could afford to sell him if a good bid came in. I think he's the sort of player you wouldn't want to sell, but he is arguably dispensible to them now.
Wenger has probably simply realised that if he wants to sign a top quality player then he's going to have to loosen his principles when it comes to very high wage demands. He seemed willing to do it with Suarez until Liverpool refused to sell, so I imagine it's the same case here.
They probably need to strengthen more in other areas, but if they've got a chance of signing a top player like Ozil for a good fee then they're not going to turn that down.

Well when player of such class became available, it doesn't matter, you just signed at all cost. Just similar to what we did to bring RVP here last season, no pressing need indeed, but look how far and how good he has accomplished since.
That lack of pace he has tends to stop us going full on kamikaze though. He injects some kind of calmness into the team. I'd much rather have him in the team than have the Vermaelen/Koscielny partnership going.

The league is going to be incredible if they sign Ozil. No one is guarenteed top 4 in my opinion if he signs, which is absolutely perfect and will be great to watch.

Still fine. If nothing is done in the next couple of hours, I'll begin to think a hijack has occurred.
Have to say I'm rather jealous, although we have Rooney and Kagawa that play that role so aren't really struggling ourselves in that area. Of course it would be nice but 40 odd million and 200k wages for potentially a player you'd rotate? Not our style, especially when there are players like Fellaini and Herrera which would help us this season.
