4-3-1 in the last 8 against them (3-0-1 in the last 4). The 1 loss was when Rangnick put out this team

Only 3 of those players could be starting tomorrow . Max 4

Game on at 4:30 AM here, going to make for a very long transfer of power from 2022 to 2023. Wolves are on the ropes, we should smash them.

Probably jinxing us by saying, am not worried with this fixture compared to the last several years. Not because of where Wolves are but, even with their new manager bounce it's all about us as it should be - we are playing well as whole, not afraid of losing the midfield and defensively doesn't matter the names because we are defending well as a team.

Offensively we have a clue as well and bonus of having Rashford in very good form, Martial being solid and then having the likes of Antony/Garnacho to boot. Just have to make sure to be bit more clinical - especially in an away fixture.

We can go into games a lot more confident nowadays and that’s down to ETH. Made us very solid at the back. Brought in some quality additions in the middle of the pitch. Having casemiros presence alone makes me feel a lot more confident of not conceding to many chances. He lays down the foundations for the attackers to thrive.

Ah yes the "if they have a bad match they need to benched" crowd. So for how long? A match, 2 matches? Then what happens when he comes back into the side and has a poor match? Back on the bench for 2-3 matches? How is a player supposed to find form, especially one that is young and new to the league?

It is not just one off game, or because of missed chances.

Completely irrational decision making: he deserves being benched.

Put in someone who will follow directions and help the team.

I admit I’m surprised to hear this- thanks for setting my memory straight. Nonetheless, I definitely recall a lot of edgy and difficult games against them. They are s bit of a bogey team even if we’ve scraped some results. Do those games include cup competitions? I could’ve sworn we’ve lost more than one, but don’t have time to Google it right now.

Would be nice for us to make light work of them for a change. Doubtless it'll be a nervy game until the last minute.

I hate it when we play early kickoffs. It will be more of the team that works harder because wolves also have some really quality players. I just hope Martinez will be back

I can never remember an easy game against wolves away. Hoping this is the first!

He was benched prior to the World Cup because of his poor performance in the UEL and did not play again before the break so it seems incredibly kneejerk to suggest benching him again already. Since the restart he has played 30 minutes as a sub against Burnley when the game was won and we were basically playing out time and then got the first hour against Forest which was his first start in almost 2 months. He was not man of the match against Forest but to say he put in a bad performance is way over the top. He has had little game time for several weeks and was starting for the first time with AWB instead of Dalot behind him, it would have been remarkable if he did have a great game. He quite clearly has the talent and the man we pay to make these decisions is happy with him so maybe lets give it a few more games before freaking out.
He wasn't benched though. If that was the case he would have at least been on the bench. He wasn't training at all because of illness/injury so was absent from every squad after the last match he started.

We need an early goal to calm the nerves. If we score early I think we’ll breeze through it. If it’s 0-0 late into the game then that’s when we need to start worrying. They’ll end up nicking it with a neves worldie. Can’t afford to drop points since the scousers rode their luck and got a win.

Need to be winning this type of games if we are serious about top 4. We failed the Villa test woefully. Hopefully it won't repeat itself here. They will come out with energy and intensity from the start and we need to match it.

First PL home game under a new manager, they'll be up for this one. If we dont match them I can see another Villa result.

Didn’t know we were playing today. Feels like we never beat Wolves.

Even when we do, I still feel like we didn't. And like I need a shower. Premier League's very own Atletico Madrid. They committed 22 fouls against Everton and somehow no one got sent off. Just avoid playing football as much as possible.

    • New manager bounce
    • Wolves
    • Midday kick off
    • Liverpool fluked a win this match day
    Ah well

It's difficult to believe this was an actual team that was put out last season  The difference between then and now is night and day.

Expecting the same team with Malacia out for Martinez or Maguire (if Martinez isn't ready).

I can never remember an easy game against wolves away. Hoping this is the first!

Believe it or not, there used to be a time when our game had almost everything: great attacking width, quality switches of play, cutback passes, pinpoint crosses at the far post, quick one-twos just outside the box, goals from set-pieces etc. Who knows, perhaps we'll get there again.

It's also the fixture in which we set the new record for the longest run of away games without a defeat, but that feels like a long time ago, nowadays.

They are a tough side because they are good at slowing everything down and destroying any kind of rhythm. Add that, in the post-SAF era, we have mostly been a side that doesn't move the ball well against set defences and you get a nasty mix.

We seem to move the ball about a lot quicker nowadays and we find other solutions to scoring. That should help us against these if they decide to sit back. Any news on sancho returning? Some point in the new year preferably…

Speed will be key today. Not just foot speed but speed of thought and speed of ball movement. Looking forward to it.

Your post reminds me of a Simpsons quote.

"I saw this movie about a bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, it would explode! I think it was called ''The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

Can't wait for us to face a wolves side that for just 1 game will turn into prime Chelsea during mourinho's 1st stint of managing them

I can never remember an easy game against wolves away. Hoping this is the first!

Since they got promoted in 2018, me neither. But before they got relegated in 2012, I don’t remember this one as a tricky fixture. I think we even won against them in high scoring games multiple times; If I remember right, last being the game in 11-12 season with Antonio Valencia playing a great game. Since they went to full Portuguese and we’ve become a bit shit, it’s a different story though.

I expect a 1-0 or 2-1 win today. Not as comfortable as the games before 2012 but also not as nervy as the games in the last 5 years.
