Christ the pessimism in here is palpable. Get a grip and look forward to seeing your team (who are playing well).

They beat Brighton away in their next league game after beating us. Then it was the World Cup break which is the last thing they would have wanted as it halted their momentum from those two huge opening league wins.
Think world cup break came at wrong time for a few.

    DeGea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Eriksen Casemiro
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Martial

that right now is our strongest XI and they need to start the match assuming Dalot and Martinez made it back....if not then little choice but to play AWB and Harry

Yep, agree with all of this. You can't not agree really.

That's actually a really strong team.

Ah, Wolverhampton and their brand of anti-football. One of the worst fixtures of the season entertainment wise, regardless of result. Oooh, and it's an away game with their new manager bounce. Well, good for them... :boring:

I hope we speed them on the way to relegation, but it will probably end in a dull draw.

6 weeks ago this would have been a walk in the park

Not now, They already looked a better team under Lopetegui

I mean they were outplayed by Fat Frank's Everton the other day. Just that they got a 5th minute of stoppage time goal that was the difference

I used to hate playing Wolves. But now I'm confident we won't be dominated by their midfield anymore and will come out of the match just fine.

Don’t be fooled by the stats, they were good value for at least a point. They look a much more organised outfit than under the previous manager.

I still expect us to win but this game will be tougher than it looks on paper

Am I one of the few people here who is feeling confident about this game?
I saw Wolves against Everton and they were nothing special. If we bring half of our game and they play exactly how they play against Everton we should be winning this. They have a scoring problem IIRC.

You can. Martinez has been drinking for 2 solid weeks. If he’s a good choice to start….

The post I responded to said "that right now is our strongest XI and they need to start the match assuming Dalot and Martinez made it back....if not then little choice but to play AWB and Harry"

So yea, if he's not ready, then he's not ready.

He doesnt drink alcohol. id hope elite footballers have a training routine even when on holiday And celebrating. Hes not played a for a few weeks though So i expect bench.

    Easy win expected here.

I would start Garnacho, Sancho or even Elanga ahead of Antony. He needs to be benched.

Red cards for Martinez and Costa, Donny vd Beek scores winner in 95th minute.

highly doubt he's gone on a two week bender....most pro footballers don't live that way ESPECIALLY during a season so i expect him to start

again the only issue is attacking depth, we just have none at the moment except youngsters b/c Sancho is having an identity crisis atm

Agreed. He needs to know he is on the bench if he puts in a bad shift.

Ah yes the "if they have a bad match they need to benched" crowd. So for how long? A match, 2 matches? Then what happens when he comes back into the side and has a poor match? Back on the bench for 2-3 matches? How is a player supposed to find form, especially one that is young and new to the league?

You should see the state of the Antony thread. Some of the responses to a bad game against Forest are completely irrational. Sancho isn't even available and anyone who wants to start Elanga ahead of him right now needs their head examined.

Well that's why we have a manager to decide these things, rather than leaving it for fanboys/haters of individual players to vote on.

Antony was poor against Forest, but he's not exactly had a run of poor performances. In any case we haven't got a lot of other options; Elanga has hardly set the world alight. If he's still "struggling to find form" in another few games he certainly needs to be benched though.

So fecking stupid. What is this obsession with punishing players. Great way to destroy the confidence of a player who's barely played in two months and is still adapting to the league. We've cried out for a left footed right winger for years, clearly play better as soon as one comes into the team even when he's not playing his best (we've lost two games when Antony starts: City and that bullshit Sociedad match), then want him benched after a few subpar performances for players who would be playing out of position.

Wolves are a pretty quality side so tough game ahead imo. But we're on form too. Have a feeling Rashford will score another worldie this match. He's been terrific lately.

I'll be nervous if Martinez isn't playing. Wolves have a very good manager now.

There's 2 things I do not want to see in this match.

    1. Adama Traore running from his own half beating everyone that tries to stop him.

    2. Neves scoring from outside the box.

Without these happening we should win.

We have to regain the confident that we can win matches like this one and the next one against Bournemouth. We actually have a good team and plays some good football, and the players seems to be enjoying what they are doing, so why not believe that they will actually unleash their potential. 1-3 win and happy new year

huh? bottom-3 and should have lost to Everton (1 spot off the bottom 3) the other day

I watched most of that game live and regardless of stats there is no way Everton even deserved a point in that game, they were dire. That said we should be beating Wolves pretty comfortably but Lopetegui is a canny manager and there is no denying that Wolves have a number of quality players, thankfully they have no strikers whatsoever.

Right, what then sir is your suggestion?

He had several bad performances in a row. Lost the ball a lot needlessly.

    they were dire.

Except Wolves were too and only reason they won is because Everton were still pushing for a goal in the last minute and got hit on the counter. The goals from both teams before that came from bad defense against set pieces.

He was benched prior to the World Cup because of his poor performance in the UEL and did not play again before the break so it seems incredibly kneejerk to suggest benching him again already. Since the restart he has played 30 minutes as a sub against Burnley when the game was won and we were basically playing out time and then got the first hour against Forest which was his first start in almost 2 months. He was not man of the match against Forest but to say he put in a bad performance is way over the top. He has had little game time for several weeks and was starting for the first time with AWB instead of Dalot behind him, it would have been remarkable if he did have a great game. He quite clearly has the talent and the man we pay to make these decisions is happy with him so maybe lets give it a few more games before freaking out.

Good point with AWB. Still think he should be benched (I hope I just jinxed it and he will be MOTM)

Yeah they’ve been a bit of a nightmare recently for us. I’d love to see them wiped out this time. I’m nervous though….

4-3-1 in the last 8 against them (3-0-1 in the last 4). The 1 loss was when Ragnick put out this team
