Our attacking 4 have all be collectively poor. Nobody seems to like running in behind - both wingers want to stay wide and wait for the ball. That’s fine - it stretches the pitch but you have to offer a threat in behind occasionally. And Martial has no interest in running in behind ever. Constantly wants it to feet.
Antony looks like he’s the one that won the World Cup and has been on the piss since, Garnacho is a kid, and this is as good as it gets with Martial. Nothing really unexpected for me

It looks like the Dutch league was Antony’s level. It wasn’t like he was putting up big numbers over there either. Spending €100 million on him was a ludicrous decision.
That's the mental thing. His numbers were underwhelming playing for the most dominant team in one of the weaker European leagues

This was in the CL. He may not have had jaw dropping goals and assists, but his general analytics were fantastic, while someone like Gakpo for example has great goals and assists, but mediocre analytics..

He's young. Big move to new league. Huge pressure with the big fee. It quite simply takes a lot of time for it to click and feel comfortable and adapt. But the potential is there.

Some decent football but I'd have Harry on and Shaw left back plus Rashford on. Anthony desperately needs something to go right for him. Bruno starting to get on the ball a bit. That needs to continue.
That would be a positive change alright.

Antony has been terrible, unwilling to try and beat his man, his passing has been erratic and has let his man down his side too many times.

Eriksen has been invincible and our passing overall hasn't been good enough.

Two quality chances missed, hopefully we don't rue them come FT.
Pass completion in the 60s is unacceptable.

We were poor and yet we should still have been ahead at half time. A telling sign both that Wolves aren't great and that we are a much better team than this. We should finish 'em in the second half.

That was some half of football from Antony. Oh boy.

Bruno hasn't been at his best.

    Shaw looks good at CB.

You lot just like a good moan don’t you? Festive fixture, away at Wolves, it’s a perfect recipe for a tight game and we have been the better team and created clear chances.

Antony isnt doing well with his final ball but his ball retention and switches of play are important for our build up. The headers were shit, granted, but the way its going on in here you’d think he scored a couple of own goals like that poor Leicester lad.

No we aren’t. We just aren’t taking our chances.

We are. Even when we win. I can't say I enjoy our football at all really, apart from an appreciation that tactically we look better organised and a bit more solid. We badly miss having players with individual ability that express themselves on the pitch. I know he's not the pinnacle of football or a great person, but I miss seeing Giggsy attacking fullbacks with speed and talent that these lot could only dream of.

No way, Costa will steamroll Maguire.. hell push him into making mistakes.

Not the game for Maguire for me.

Wow, a sensible and considered post. Agree with all.

I swear half the people posting on this thread don’t know jot about football. I despair.
Nah. They just say any shit based on how they’re feeling in the moment. People used to slate Fergie in match day threads.

Been saying this all season, we need to accept 5th is as good as it gets this season but with new owners and big pockets we can have a brilliant season next season.

    Hopefully…

Why is 5th as good as it gets ?
If United don't bring in a striker then its on the board. If we do then there is a good prospect of top 4.

Hopefully we wear them down score a goal before 60 minutes and reap the rewards of our decent play late in the game. Just need to keep switched on at the back.

It wasnt a weak header by Martial, the wind blew the ball to Antony, it changed direction mid air.

We are missing Dalot and shaw in the wife roles, they really help open up the posting field and then bruno can get involved.

Why? Everything tonight comes down our right side through him. We’ve kept the ball high up and pressed the Wolves defence back. He isn’t there to score goals.
Nunez is genuinely a terrible finisher. I don’t even know what potential means when you have a striker who can’t score.
Seriously? From 100 mil winger you don't expect goals and assists? Winger good in pressing and keeping the ball you can get for 10 mil.

Dropping points here will confirm my suspicion we'll struggle to finish in the top 4. Our forward options just aren't good enough.

Shaw does seem like he’s an ally. I could see him in the wife role

I think the other teams have more depth and momentum than we do to achieve top 4. It will be a massive effort from Ten Hag to get 4th with the players we have to bring in when the first 11 are out.

Oh, he's been awful. Has barely made a successful pass and ruined so many attacks. I'd say he was our worst player in that half, and of course recent performances makes him stand out a bit.
Stopped reading after that hyperbole. There was a passage or two where he was frustrating but later in the half got it together.

Antony is someone we'll have to judge long term. He's young, new league, and a huge price tag pressure. That's hard for a young player to adapt to. Look at Dembele at Barca... Took years for it to click.

There's plenty of time for Antony, in the mean time he just has to work hard, but he's clearly low on confidence too.
Yep, i am hoping that it is confidence isdue

How many players still do that?

I wonder did the Glazers keep the receipt for Antony. He should have a few months left on his 12 month warranty.

Shaw is a massive miss who can hold down a wing on his own and Dalot has a 6th sense for when to bail out Antony.

Very harsh on Garnacho to be taken off ahead of the two useless plonkers alongside him.
