James in CM with Fred, Pogba at LWThe obsession this place has with DVB is absolutely bizarre. You'd think he'd been turning in 8,9 or 10 out of 10 performances when we've seen him instead of the 5s he's actually turned in.
I get people don't like Matic, Fred, McT, James etc etc but DVB has done no better than any of them.

And imo based on his performances so far he's worse than both Fred and Matic. Probably he hasn't played for so long that you've forgotten those performances.
I have watched James play every game for us and for Wales. My mind will not be changed on him, I would like him to be sold and think he is one of the least talented players I have seen at the club in 35 years supporting us. If he had no pace he'd probably be playing non league football.
However Ole trusts him and if he does the job, good on him and Ole - I just want the three points, don't care how they come.H such an attacking line up, we need James in this game from a tactical stand point. Not sure why some are being thick about it.

VdB is not a holding midfielder, he's too similar to Fernandez, and Pogba arguably. We'd be much better off getting a proper defensive midfielder or a deep lying playmaker rather than play someone out of position.

What was it?makes sense to push pogba back to central midfield, Ole needs to try and get the most out of him from there. Too many good attacking options when everyone is fit to have him in that left midfield/wing spot.
You can call it what you want — he’s been playing as a left winger in the first two games and now he’s going to be playing in a midfield two this game.
He could’ve played where Pogba is playing today last week. We could’ve literally done the same tactic today and swap VDB for James with Pogba on the left.
Pogba isn't holding midfielder either so that has nothing to do with DvB not starting. Fred is in theory the holding midfielder in today's lineup.
4-3-3 with Sancho right, James left and Fred at backwards point of the midfield with Bruno on his right and Pogba left.Seems a bit reactive that. Pogba has been top drawer wide left and now he's shifted into a midfield two instead of giving Donny a game. Like last week, when Greenwood had just come off a top game as a striker and shifted wide right.
