If James is starting, he won’t be leaving the club in the couple of days if he’s anywhere close to signing for a new club

Good lineup. James is there to track Adama and get him out of the game, as much as I love Pogba on the left it was the sensible thing to do and it means we won't see Matic playing whilst McTominay is out.

Not sure how hard that was to figure out...

Why not switch Pogba with James and put VDB next to Fred, we must be the only team around happy to play with a hand tied behind our backs. So frustratin.

Can we just stop with that fecking numbering layout already? Should I write them an angry letter?

Genuinely think Ole sees James as our Park, except he lacks any footballing ability.

Runs about a bit, pretty much it.

Glad to see Varane and Sancho starting and Mason up top but Pogba in midfield is a risk and there's no logic in James playing over Martial, Lingard, Van de Beek or Elanga.

As much as I dislike James, who should start over him? Matic, Martial, Lingard, Elanga, or maybe Mata? We don't have many options when Cavani, Ronaldo, and Rashford are not fit/available.

I’ll never be able to wrap my head around Ole’s adoration of Dan James. Rest of the team looks good. Not sure about Pogba in the pivot though. Ole really doesn’t trust Van De Beek does he. Probably best for him that he moves on because he’s not gonna get a sniff.

James got the saucy nudes and he's not deleting them

Happy with that lineup. Great to finally see both Sancho & Varane starting and also Cavani on the bench. Had a horrible feeling Ole was going to use the Fred-Matic double pivot again due to McTominay being unavailable but I’m glad he’s not. Would have liked to have seen Van De Beek start but can’t say I’m unsurprised that he isn’t.

    FFS Ole.

What part of "a cardboard cutout of Ronaldo will offer more than Dan James" did you not understand?

Why did we even buy VDB? James starts ahead of him yet again.

Who the feck knows tbh, it's a mystery.

Bit of a shame that we have Ronaldo, Cavani and Rashford out with Martial in terrible form as well, so we end up playing James still.

Pogba of course and Donny in CM.

 Relax. Cavani is obviously not fully fit and James fully deserves to start ahead of Martial at the moment.

Well looks like Pogba is moved into CM to play alongside Fred which is asking for trouble, very strange considering he’s done well out wide.

So Pogba moved after 5 assists and Dan James starting for Manchester United in 2021…

Imagine seeing a line up where we're starting our exiting new signings Sancho and Varane for the first time, and dropping the double pivot for a more attacking midfield, and your only thought is to whinge about Dan James

Exciting line up, looking forward to this!

Let’s be honest, it’s James for Cavani away from our strongest line up (if we’re using Pogba in midfield).

Happy enough with that team. Nice to see Varane and Sancho starting.

Bit disapointed Pogba has been moved back to the pivot, given how well he's started but it was going to happen eventually.

Regarding Dan James, people will moan but he started the first game of the season and we won 5-1. Yes, he wasnt great but he provided the energy on and off the ball that we didnt have last week against So'ton.

When everyone is fit, I cant see him starting but for now, other than Rashford and Elanga, no one really stretches teams the way the aforementioned players do.

Hopefully we start quick and finish our chances today.
