This will probably be a bit of a reality check for us after yesterdays second half madness. Wolves are in far better shape than Chelsea at the moment and their midfielder is better than ours at the moment, we can hurt them on the counter but I forsee some teething problems being exposed more in this game, I would say a point would be a great result but a Wolves win wouldnt surprise me at all they outplayed us twice last season at their place.

I wouldn't start either of Mata or Lingard in this game as neither can tackle and win the ball. We need to play 3 midfielders as they are strong in this area.

This will be a good test.. Last season when we played there , we should have racked up a few goals in the first 20 mins ( looking at you Lingard), but later lost that game.. and didnt look dangerous later on..
they have a good midfield and will play better than Chelsea , so we will see how this team performs..
Even though we won 4-0 yesterday, we will see next week how Martial, Rashford and Pogba plays against a better midfield

Wolves won't give us the opportunity to break like Chelsea

Wolves had 30% possession against Leicester. Doubt we'll have many chances to counter as we'll always have the ball.

Will be interesting to see how Wolves wanna play at home, they were happy to surrender possession against Leicester and try and hit them on the break.

It'll definitely be a different test for you than the Chelsea game.

I imagine we will be more than happy to sit deep and let you have the ball, meaning it becomes more about breaking us down than countering us. Part of the reason we were so successful against the bigger teams last year was our success on the counter. Ole will be wary of this too.

I can there maybe being a few set-piece goals, but probably very little from open play in this one.

Well we know Wolves will want to play on the break so it will be a different test for us.

Any chance to see Fred over Andreas?
Think we will need the creativity to break them down, they'll look to counter. I'm not confident but we have a score to settle after last season at molineux x2

Can't wait for this narrative of Wolves having a better midfield than us, to be proven a total fallacy.

This will be tough, Wolves seem to like attacking the big sides, especially at home, and they're good at it. With our defense now as strong as it is, I expect us to catch them on the break a couple of times and win the match that way.

    3 - 1 United.

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred
    Mctominay Pogba
    James Martial Rashford

This will be tough. They’re a very decent team.

I fancy us to scrape a win though. Don’t think they’ll score, and think we’ll manage to get a couple.

We actually played very well against them in the league last year, only to let in a header and then collapse.

If we'd have taken our chances we could have been 3-0 up.

No doubt the boys will be full of confidence and hopefully RARING to put those 2 defeats to bed.

Wolves have a EL qualifier on Thursday so hopefully they'll be a bit drained by then.

We'll lose unless we're lucky and then the week after will be the first REAL test (unless we're lucky again in that game too).

Doesn't look like they'll be able to count on Smalling to score an own goal for them this time either.

Very irritating team to play, especially away. Can’t give the ball away so cheaply as they’ll do that cheesy cross field ball constantly.

We need to win this game, get some confidence in the squad. Because as soon as they lose confidence that's when the sulking and nerves come into play and I can't stand that shite for one more minute.

    your name is pretty appropriate

If they sit deep we have to go all out to press them I guess.
That's what they did last year no? Sit deep but move quickly forward and press us. If we can counter press them high enough I think they will get roasted, otherwise we will get roasted.

People wanting James to start, but I'd rather see him to come later at 60 minutes when fullbacks are tired.

If we do it like that, we will get lots of freekick situation and we can push the game.

    Front 3 should be:

    Rashford - Martial - Greenwood

Given the success of the counter-attack, and that United are away to Wolves, there must be a temptation to start the same lineup.

He may also be tempted to move Pogba to the 10 position and put Matic and McTominay together as the 2, because this will be a crunching encounter and I genuinely don't know if Pereira's got the bottle for that. Throwing him in is a good way to find out though!

They caught us cold last season. Our teams fitness was running out and we had injuries. You could also bring into question our desire to beat Wolves. I hope that they all remember those defeats and use it as motivation. We need to match their work rate this time round. We are much more dangerous going forward, and now with a solid defense, we won't be torn apart so easily. Midfield is the area where the battle will be won. We just need to dominate them through pure grit.

Chelsea won the midfield battle and still lost badly.

Watched their game against Leicester on MOTD and it's tricky to judge from short highlights. They don't tend to change their outlook at all.Always looking for the outlet with Jota and the FBs pushing on.Neves sitting deep, hitting passes out wide,Jimenez bringing people into play well and Moutinho very crafty.

What I don't think they do well is break down a team that sits deep and looks to do to them what they do to others. They are confident absorbing pressure especially with their no nonsense defence. Not sure how they react to a pacey counter.

What I don't want to see is Pogba pissing around giving possession away like the 1st half against Chelsea. A Pogba moving the ball quickly as in the 2nd half will present them with problems though.

The kid is 17 years old. :nono::wenger:

The hell with people over rating Wolves midfield. Since when do they have a better midfield than Chelsea or even ours. You see people talking on these boards or Twitter as if Wolves battered us last season when the truth is that we should have put the game to bed in the first half but for poor finishing.
