I dont understand that. Please explain.
Leicester are shite so we can afford to play 2 poachers who don't do much outside the box at home and still be comfortable... Need a lot more in midfield away to West Ham.

Paul pisshead Merson thinks we'll get beat 2-1, so that's a 3-0 win then.

What he said basically. This would be a good game to push Wayne up top just behind whoever, then bring in a proper CM. Wayne can still help out in midfield when he sees fit.

if anybody told me that McNair has the biggest chance to start as RB ahead of Valencia and Rafael I would be laughing.. but if he doesn't play as RB we will probably play with 5 at back again as all of our center backs are getting into form and are fit, and obviously all of our strikers are fit. We need to shoehorn them in the team.

    Christmas tree:

    De Gea

    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw

Fellaini - Blind - Di Maria

    Mata - Rooney

    RVP

Falcao, Herrera and Januzaj as substitution for RVP, Fellaini and Mata

Jones taking the corners ? Ok we're laughing at Jones, but taking corners.... doesn't seems to unreal ?
SAF had RVP taking corners, always seemed a bit of a waste. You might argue that Jones as a corner taker leaves us shy a defensive midfielder in a counter attack, and secondly that he is decent in the air, so corner taking wastes him. Maybe him having that role says something about LVG's priorities; is there a lesser emphasis on headed goals? Obviously corner taking demands excellent dead ball skills. Who would you pick? If you were making a poll (corners from the right only), who would be the contenders?

People are saying it should be Mata on corners and we should be taking any opportunity to get a goal, not be sniffy about the sort of goal we want to score.

Then what does LVG want from headers? Scholes' like volleys whistling into the top corner?

During Fergie's last year RVP took all the corner and I remember than in terms of stat we were very good on scoring from corner and free kick. So RVP was a clear answer. But we had top guys like Vidic and Evra opening spaces during set pieces helping us.

I think that the corner taker is not the answer. It’s more who is in the box and what the movements in there are. I guess that neither Smalling, Evans nor Jones are great at receiving offensive corners (or free kick).

So what, I would pick one of Di Maria or Mata taking the corners from the right side, with a better choice for Mata, and Rooney is the obvious choice from the left. But, personally I would rather have all my “strikers” in the box during offensive set pieces rather than one of them staying outside de box.

Playing with 3 center back, I would have all of them in the box, one cutting first post, one central and one second post, (this weekend Rojo, Jones, Smalling) with our 2 strikers (RVP, Falcao/Di Maria) slightly behind, meaning 5 players in the box and 1 other player outside the box (Rooney or Mata/Fellaini), and 3 on defensive duties (Blind, Valencia and Shaw)

Really hope we'll win this one and maybe even keep the clean sheet, just to prove that bloody Merson bloke wrong.

Reckon everything is going to suddenly click and we're going to absolutely smash this lot.

I'm going with this team, not because thats what I think we'll play but because thats what I want to see!

    De Gea

    Rafa - Jones - Rojo - Shaw

    Herrera - Blind - Felliani

    Di Maria

    Rooney - Falcao

Only Carrick is definitely out as of right now (but knowing LvG he'll leave out the players who aren't 'match-fit', which could be any number of players).

    What I would like:

    De Gea

    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw

    Blind

    Herrera Di Maria

    Mata

    Rooney Falcao

    What I expect:

    De Gea

    Valencia Jones Evans Rojo Young

    Blind Rooney Di Mara

    RVP Falcao

Based on the manager's presser comments I would not be surprised to see Fellaini upfront at some point.

Same back 4 as Tuesday, would prefer someone else but Evans but that's hard with our defenders. Rojo and McNair were class as fullbacks.

Di Maria for me plays better in the centre but no way will Rooney be played as a No10. Suppose Fellaini could play there and have a Rooney/Di Maria partnership in the middle.
I would play the same team as well. West Ham players are huge, we are going to need height at the back, so Rojo and McNair would be my choice as full backs and Fellaini in midfield.

    De Gea

    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw

    Blind

    Fellaini Di Maria

    Rooney

    RVP Falcao

What I expect though would like to see Rafael in

This is a massive match for our season. With 3 of our top 4 rivals all playing in derbies, a win for us will guarantee some breathing room over someone. Desperately need an 'calm win' - something we've not had for ages it feels like in the league.

If we're honest, the momentum is really with LFC/AFC/THFC in terms of performance over the last month and a half. We're in third but clinging on a bit. If injuries are really 'over' than this has to be the type of match we take 3 points from.

But our away form, susceptibility to being 'out-muscled' and chronic lack of goals away from OT lead me to believe we'll almost certainly drop points again.

    I would really like us to play 4231 but that would be with Carrick & Blind as the '2', so with Carrick out I would go 4141 ;
    DDG
    Rafael-Jones-Rojo-Shaw
    Blind
    Januzaj-Herrera-Rooney-ADM
    RVP

Hardest game in our supposed "easy" spell of games. A win here would be big, as you can easily see our rivals dropping points

We need to have a margin before the mid march run of doom

To be fair, we're over half way through the season and have seen big investment. If we do finally click, there is nothing sudden about it. It's well overdue now.

Definitely not overdue. For the first time this season, we've managed to get through consecutive games without losing players to injuries. There's no way you could have expected us to "click" as a team, at any time this season, given how many players we've continually lost every week.
