Think I can get the tactics now. Keep it 0-0 until 70 minutes, bring on one or both of Martial and Rashford and then blame them for the result.

That is harsh but oh so true, Jose is just trying to show the board how shit his team is so they give him a blank cheque this summer.

Gary is annoying me. He's confusing his opinion with fact.
Should Sanchez ignore Joses instructions so he plays where you want him to Gary?
Or would that get in the way of digging him out for 5 minutes?

I'm bit late to the party here, but is there a reason, apart from Lukaku being out, that we aren't playing a striker?

Or, if I'm not fully seeing the plan, who is it? And what is the plan?

    and finally...

can anyone do anything about Andy Townsend?

Slightly better than the other day, but still pretty poor.

Tempo is slow, everything down the middle, lack of creativity. Needs to be better.

Season end cant come soon enough now. Either the manager has to offload some of these players who are not performing the way he wants and bring in his players who will do it, or the manager will have to accept that this job is too big for him. West Ham away and its backwards, sideways s*it. The incentive that we are up against Moyes should be enough, let alone the boys should be trying their best to get a result for Sir Alex who may be watching from his sick bed. Players should be ashamed

Get Martial or Rashford on for McTominay. Pogba drops deep into midfield and let Sanchez make the plays behind the striker.

I think for some weird reason it’s Jose’s tactics to start slow and then go for it a little more second half. The only time we seem to play well in the first half is when we go a goal down. I mean really we’re just shite to watch.

Main problem imo is the lack of composure in midfield under pressure.

    He’s not wrong though.

The ref is bad so we can blame him too.

    Why not?

We are playing a relegation fodder team who are sitting to hit United on the counter, we are playing with no determination and playing like this is a friendly and have no strikers on the pitch, haven't created any decent chances and the best player on the pitch is a west ham player.

It is our fault that we cannot beat such teams. We cannot rest our chances of winning the game on a ref who may or may not give fouls in our favour.

A big match between huge teams where chances are at a premium and the ref screws up with a major decision is different and not being able to string 3 passes together against west fecking ham and then blaming the referee is different and small time.

Come on people we were quite okay this half.

Some peeps only see grey areas

To many limited players on the pitch that can't play the killer pass or take a man on.
Yep. But we all knew this when we saw the team sheet. The defenders , Herrera , McTominay and Lingard are the main culprits. Wing backs have been OK. Getting into good positions but the final ball isn't there. What I can't accept though is the cowardice on the ball and like you said the killer pass or someone who can beat a man. It's just very limited all round. I saw people praising McTominay for making a turn. Look how the standards have fallen.

We're passing the ball well this half.
Are you copying and pasting generic Jose rants regardless of how the game is going?

    Negativity rules.

This is a really defensive lineup from United when you think about it. 352 formation, McTominay and Herrera in midfield, Shaw as a wingback, Lingard as one of the front two. That's about as defensive as you can realistically get.

We haven't been too bad, obviously playing a striker would be help, but we've had a few chances though mostly from long range. Just feels real flat and there's no atmosphere whatsoever.

It's been a lot better than most of our recent performances, just a shame Pogba's second touch is a tackle :(

Don't want to keep on about needing good fullbacks next season but for God's sake Jose, give Shaw a proper run of games would you.He looks dangerous everytime he goes forward, his passing is pretty good, got the pace to get back when the team lose possession. So much better than Valencia over the other side.

The outcry in match threads over our appalling football is hilarious. We've played the same shite brand of football all season, what exactly are you expecting to change at this point in the season?

People are conflicted, we got the greatest manager in the world, according to many but yet this is what he is bringing to the table for the past two years. Everyone is hoping that Jose has this great plan and that the puzzle pieces will start falling into place now just before the start of next season and each game they are getting more frustrated and disappointed.

Small time to blame the ref when United could not score.

I'm not blaming him for us not scoring. So keep your small time. He has been poor though. And I'm not frustrated like half the thread posters. I'm watching a different game perhaps. Not unhappy with the performance so far.

What does the line-up tell about the set-up? Yeah, nothing.

But we still were the better team and had a number of shots on target and hit the post.

Am I the only one who thinks we have been okay? Need a threat in behind but none of our players bar Smalling have been particularly bad. Get Rashford on for one of the centre backs and go for it.

Are our players really stupid or just refusing to run into the space that Sanchez opens up by dragging players away from their positions.

Hererra, McTominay and Pogba playing hot potato with the ball right in front of our defenders :wenger:

I wonder if this is the trial to the Cup final. I can imagine Jose would like to play with 3 at the back against Conte.

Our tempo is so so slow, particularly in the midfield. It’s been easy for West Ham thus far to defend against.

If Jose wants to play 3-5-2, he will definitely need to sign two very good fullbacks on either side this summer.
