As Stuart just said to me, you can’t get any more opposite to the Boleyn than this. It’s a really weird atmosphere. There are thousands of empty seats, the little noise from West Ham’s fans since kick-off has mainly been polite applause and the pitch must be so far away for so many it looks like a Subbuteo match. It feels like an exhibition match.
United supporters are doing well to be heard with ‘Bertie Mee said to Matt Busby’ and ‘My Old Man’ but they might be out of sync. I’ve never seen supporters more separated in two different tiers.Not a great start by us
