Bruno proves he’s the only world class player again. He has his fair share of world class performances but if people are expecting Southampton level performances every game, then we need to pay him 1 million per week because that would make him Messi/Ronaldo level. His consistent goal contributions topped up with more good performances than bad are good enough for me. Everyone else in the attack should aim for that level.

Aside from him, Maguire and Shaw good, the rest remarkably awful. As in, truly useless in that first half. Pawson somehow even worse. WBA are sitting back so we definitely need Greenwood.
    Agree Greenwood on

our wingers don't do enough.Literally AWB nd Shaw are responsible for all wide play. They don't even help the build up centrally. Just hide from the ball

It's a joke how little we get out of both of them. They walk through games like they're 36 year old legends on their retirement tour. Rashford actively pulls out of every 50/50.

How the feck is it not a foul when pushing your hand into the face of a defender when competing for a cross? How the feck did VAR not spot that? The foul on Rashford just outside the box and on Fernandez inside the box? Then blowing for halftime when he did after WBA wasted time constsntly. But why on earth does nobody on the field or in the coaching team show some fecking passion and put pressure on this clown of a ref?
This is down to Klopp influencing the refs. I guess he got his karma with the Dippers recent woes

It’s definitely a foul on Lindelof but it’s also typically weak defending from him - been an issue since he joined United and clearly won’t improve.

The McFred combo is much too limited for games like this, no ability on the ball. Shows how much we’re still reliant on Pogba for any quality from deep.

Martial needs to be dropped. Why are we moving Rashford from his best position to accommodate a player who’s seriously out of form and has attitude issues at the best of times? Put Martial on the right if you want to rest Greenwood, stop sacrificing Rashford.

I won't give excuses for Lindelof as he was pathetic...

But can someone side by side that goal and Maguires that was ruled out against Burnley? Horrendous officiating.

I agree it was a foul, but we should be able to come back and carve WB open, which we have not. It has been the same all bloody season bar maybe two or three games.

Funny with Souness was that that what he has wanted from Pogba is what he showed in the last 10 games before the injury.

All the vendetta stuff was over stated.

I wish Maguire would stop going so far forward, with WBA having 11 men in their own defensive third we really dont need Maguire clogging up the space even more. Also we saw with Rashford once what can happen when players run at pace at the WBA defenders, I hope Greenwood gets a chance to do that at some point.
We’d still be behind if he hadn’t

I've seen there goal again, and it's a foul, they've missed that on. Wheres is VAR on this. His bloody hands all over him and blind folded him. But lindelof should be stronger there and maybe DDG read the cross. Poor goal all round. Lets go in 2nd. Dont do s SU please. Rip these apart with quick balls and movement.
VAR looked at it, that's why it's so shocking.
Hopefully we ditch the double pivot - going defensive against Big Sam's WBA was banter from Ole but surely not for 90mins

we don't have any wingers - that's been the problem for at least five years
This really is our issue for me, this and lindelof's lack of aerial ability ( he was fouled for the goal). People can blame Fred and Mctominay all they want, but you can't have maguire and shaw as key playmakers, no matter how deep west brom play. Even as forwards they have been useless. Their combination play centrally is very poor and never comes off. Bruno is forced into taking as many risky passes as he does...and for me, the only reason they don't come off more often is due to the lack of effort of martial and rashford. It's time for us to push diallo and bring in sancho in the summer. martial should be sold and rashford's place in the 11 shouldn't be guaranteed. Greenwood should get that opportunity up front rotating with Cavani. No more slackers.

    Exactly this.

You suspect the VAR ref just saw the one angle.

If Lindeof goes down and everyone raises hell, they'll look at it for longer to see why the anger.

    I'm almost sure they did.

They didn't show the opposite angle until long after the goal.

    feck these refs, abysmal stuff.

Also, said it before the defence is the reason we are not top. City grinded out results when they were not flying, and now they have got their mojo back.

Having a weak GK, plus two slow and one weak CB is not a good combo.

Statistically speaking our forwards haven't scored much less than theirs, which is to affirm your point that the major difference between the two has been the efficacy of the defence.

Ole is too soft in every possible way - with officials and with individual players. Carrick wouldn't say boo to a goose! can you imagine jose or SAF with that decision?

Utter shite performance so far - with the exception of Bruno's goal.

Rashford, Tony - Crap yet again, get them both off and on the bench for the next 3 games

2 DMs again and yet again we concede a shit goal

2 DMs because our defence needs protection - yet Maguire is the one making runs in to the box?!

Get Fred or McT off, Donny on, lets get some attacking moves going and score some goals, this sideways passing crap needs to stop.

Our players need to be more feckin streetwise by the way

Why isn't Lindelöf grabbing his face, rolling around as if he's been blinded!? Make the ref second guess himself.

They don’t add time on for set pieces though. Surely you know that? He Amy have been wrong not to blow before the pass, but he was still right to blow when he did.
Of course they do. If the ref adds two minutes and a goalkeeper spends one and a half minute to take a goal kick, do you really not think time should be added on?

    Break-up of time added on:
    45:00-45:24 - Ball in play
    45:59-46:01 - Ball in play
    46:31-46:34 - Ball in play
    46:57-47:06 - Ball in play

Would you say that the two minutes lost to stoppages has been added back at the end of the period? Out of two minutes, the ball was in play for a grand total of 33 seconds. The ref then had the good taste to wait five seconds, not intend to blow when Maitland-Niles set himself up for the pass, but as soon as Martial broke he put his hand to his mouth to blow up.

I agree that he was technically within his rights to blow up at any point past 47:00, that much is obvious, but if the point of added time is to add time to play football, then he should've added more. It's just very suspicious that it looks like he's about to let WBA have another attack since he has no intention of blowing up when the ball's headed out to Maitland-Niles who sets himself up for a pass, but as soon as the counter's on he shits himself and blows his whistle.

Its good enough for that German fella at Anfield. Their entire season is being justified by an injury to VVD. It turns out players are first names on the team sheet for a reason.

We'd be in the shitter without Bruno. Massive difference.

    absolutely this

Time was up on 47:05 when Maitland-Niles picked the ball up 25 yards out and played a pass to his player on the wing too. No intention to blow the whistle then.

He blew up because he wanted to (and was technically entitled to), just like he didn't blow for WBA because he didn't want to. Those three corners easily took away 30 seconds of added time (which was way too short in the first place considering Johnstone took 30 seconds per goal kick from the 5th minute onward)
He was allowing WBA to send in the ball into the box but wasn’t having us counter attacking , the 1st corner they took in stoppage the ball was out of play for 30 seconds

Wasn't that one a foul against the keeper?

Bruno is to us what Suarez was to Liverpool in 2014. We are only challenging because Bruno's in our squad.

oh to have that XI right now... that night, I didn't doubt for a minute we were going to win!

Right at the earliest whispers of my football memories - I couldn't have been more than 8 or 9. Cantona got a couple as well didn't he?

It was really weak from Lindelof and a lapse of concentration, but people are allowing their own view on Lindelof to cloud their judgement imo. Fouls are given for less than what we saw.

How did VAR not even take a moment to check it? I mean a proper check not just some quick glance.

Ah well, we've responded well. Need to get an early goal second half.
Var does not work like that. By the rules Var did checked it but they can overturn only obvious mistakes. This was not 100% obvious. Same would be if ref disallowed goal. They would not cancel his decision. It is on ref and only on ref

Need to stop giving away silly fouls and continue on the front foot.

Maguire has been our most adventurous player. He needs to continue making those runs, as the forward is not always tracking him.

It's a foul for so many reasons. Even if he's being weak - he's literally being blinded AND the part of his body he would contest the ball with is being restrained. Be like Cavani holding the legs of a CB whilst he taps the ball in.

VAR ref needs to clarify why that goal stood.

How on Earth their goal wasn’t reviewed for a foul I’ll never know.

Just another prime example of VAR being the shite it is.

I would take Martial off and give him a break for a while. He has out of form for so long, that I cant see him return to his best for now.
