What a goal by Bruno !! But other than the goal he was terrible , so were the winger .. Our attack always look like they have never played together , 0 synergy or whatever ..

The entire extra time was spent with West Brom hugging around De Gea for two corners. The ball was in play for about 20 seconds of the 2 minutes.

Even still, no ref blows the whistle there on a 4 v 1 ffs

Very technically, the ball being out for a corner isn't a stoppage (unless there's time wasting)... But I agree, any other ref let's that play out.

The non-foul on Lindelof is an absolute joke. He pretty much grabbed him by the face.

Yeah. Lindelof should never allow it in the first place and I blamed him initially, but it's a foul.

We've had a rough run with var last few weeks

Looking at that Bruno goal again, that's got to be the best shinpad hit since Rooney's v City all those years ago!

where was the ref looking at their goal... i mean that's a foul in rugby let alone footbll

Who on earth has ever said his legs have gone?! What a strange post.
Who needs to say it? It was a personal opinion of mine that his downturn in form was somewhat related to his less aggressive runs with the ball. Why is it weird exactly?

If Lindelof had started rolling around in agony and it would have been overturned.

None of us want to see it but if there's no fuss made in these scenarios our reputation is going to keep going against us. Was similar with the De Gea foul against Sheffield.

Blindside of the ref in fairness. Impossible to spot from behind.
But surely VAR had both angles to look at?!

Haha Hasselwank with another shocker. As if it’s Souness as the voice of reason.

Lindelof is a god damn p*ssy. He needs to anticipate the ball into the box much better. His positioning is just pants.

WBA can easily get at us if they want because we fold like a deck of cards.

How the feck is it not a foul when pushing your hand into the face of a defender when competing for a cross? How the feck did VAR not spot that? The foul on Rashford just outside the box and on Fernandez inside the box? Then blowing for halftime when he did after WBA wasted time constsntly. But why on earth does nobody on the field or in the coaching team show some fecking passion and put pressure on this clown of a ref?

We’ve been shite first half. I don’t know what’s wrong with us but the amount of times we start games poorly is simply unacceptable it’s basically every game now. Moment of brilliance from Bruno bailing us out, how many times have we seen that. Need to step it up big time second half, score early and settle down hopefully go on to bag another couple.

As others have said, if Souness is agreeing that it’s a foul, it probably is. I don’t have a huge problem with it in all honesty, but given the one that was ruled out against Maguire, it’s just not good enough that VAR can’t be consistent.

They really need to stop with the clear and obvious shit. Just send the ref to the side to have a look.

VAR letting the forward claw at Lindelof, then the ref couldn’t wait to blow his whistle. Doesn’t excuse our performance but good grief the refs in England are terrible.
This is so true. Worst crop of refs in living memory and, thanks to VAR, we have to cope with two of these incompetents making important decisions every game.

Would be good to bring Lindelof off at time and play a higher line. But we will have to wait until 85 minute to see subs

Doesn't matter what Souness thinks. VAR will always have 50/50 calls that will sometimes go in your favour and other times not. Our defense is a shambles, VAR or no VAR.

Bruno proves he’s the only world class player again. He has his fair share of world class performances but if people are expecting Southampton level performances every game, then we need to pay him 1 million per week because that would make him Messi/Ronaldo level. His consistent goal contributions topped up with more good performances than bad are good enough for me. Everyone else in the attack should aim for that level.

Aside from him, Maguire and Shaw good, the rest remarkably awful. As in, truly useless in that first half. Pawson somehow even worse. WBA are sitting back so we definitely need Greenwood.

When Sounness calls it a foul, you know VAR fecked up

It was really weak from Lindelof and a lapse of concentration, but people are allowing their own view on Lindelof to cloud their judgement imo. Fouls are given for less than what we saw.

How did VAR not even take a moment to check it? I mean a proper check not just some quick glance.

Ah well, we've responded well. Need to get an early goal second half.

I've seen there goal again, and it's a foul, they've missed that on. Wheres is VAR on this. His bloody hands all over him and blind folded him. But lindelof should be stronger there and maybe DDG read the cross. Poor goal all round. Lets go in 2nd. Dont do s SU please. Rip these apart with quick balls and movement.

Didn’t realise it was an obvious foul for their goal. No sympathy for us conceding goals like that, crap defending. Must start games better.

Poor performance so far need to start attacking with force. Poor from Lindelof but that was a stonewall obstruction! Great goal by Bruno to level up. We need to wake up properly because it felt like the players are sleep walking. This has to be a win otherwise it’s a disastrous result for us.

Its good enough for that German fella at Anfield. Their entire season is being justified by an injury to VVD. It turns out players are first names on the team sheet for a reason.

The German fella's ridiculous excuses are a whole other conversation.

I'm more than happy as long as we keep winning, but just don't see it to be a sustainable long term approach for reasons like injuries etc. Which it has been since Bruno arrived.

If Lindelof had started rolling around in agony and it would have been overturned.

None of us want to see it but if there's no fuss made in these scenarios our reputation is going to keep going against us. Was similar with the De Gea foul against Sheffield.

    Exactly this.

You suspect the VAR ref just saw the one angle.

If Lindeof goes down and everyone raises hell, they'll look at it for longer to see why the anger.

The "experts" will again be saying that the goal was Lindelof's fault and nothing much De Gea could do, but Henderson would have cleared that ball (and no, I am not giving Lindelof a pass). It's a floater into the 6 and De Gea is standing on his goal line. He was too deep to begin and just stood there. Horrible...

That anger released celebration from Bruno just tells you everything.
Earlier in the move for the goal, was it Bruno going ballistic when AWB passed the ball sideways when he had gone into space? The ball was moving about so much I am not sure who was involved in that incident.

Since his Premier League debut for Manchester United in February 2020, only Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski (both 44) have been directly involved in more goals in Europe's big five leagues than Bruno Fernandes (38 - 22 goals, 16 assists).

City miss KDB but wouldn’t lose to this lot. They’re in 4 competitions and winning. We can’t use that excuse against WBA

City have brought in Silva for De Bruyne which are similar players, in that they are both playmakers.

For us, when Pogba doesnt play, more often than not, its normally a pivot of Fred and McTominay who, despite doing well for us, cant do what Pogba does.

Some may argue that we could have got awy with playing VdB next to one of Fred/McTominay but he's really safe at times.

That being said, as you mentioned, we should be doing better against a poor West Brom team but this game yet again highlights the fact that we need some who has the passing range to switch the ball and really stretch teams teams with a low compact block.

Hoping the goal before half time perks us up a bit.

Attackers have been completely off. Even Bruno, apart from his sweet strike, was mishitting passes. Hopefully the goal settled him down, he is the only one out there who can do something. It's a good thing that WBA aren't really a typical Big Sam side with a tight defense. Even at our worst, we've found gaps, only the final ball is lacking. Need to get Greenwood on for Martial and switch Rashford.

Whatever happens this game and this season, no matter which forward is available to buy, a CB should be the top priority. Personally I think it's a foul but the fact that Lindelof doesn't make a real attempt to head the ball baffles me. He's not aggressive at all.

Also, this ref can go kick a wall.
