Smalling has said his preferred partner is Lindelof so I'd keep it the same if that's what he's most comfortable with.

I'm pretty confident he'll have said no such thing, where's that coming from?
Where did he say that?
Scholes mentioned it
Was this recently?
Yeah I remember watching it - it was on that football show he was with Phil, it was after the Brighton game.
Fecking hate international breaks.
I'd go for the same side that started today to try and gather some momentum. Will be a tough match.
I’ll try and have a look for it, thanks.

I predict Fred (and maybe even Pereira) to make a comeback against either Bern or Wolves.
The back 4 will likely be the same depending on how much travel Valencia has with Equador, if he's late back then Young will come in at RB. The front 3 will be the same and I think Pogba will start, the only thing is whether Mourinho feels he wants Freds energy and mobility in there instead of both units.
O)ne of those players that takes huge pride in his National team, is he Captain?I don't understand why he hasn't retired from international football yet.

Dream scenario:
- Valencia is too tired and Dalot impresses Mourinho enough during these two weeks to start
- Sanchez and Martial regain fitness and Mourinho's faith while finding a way to play together
- Shaw doesn't get injured
- Lindelöf and Bailly having stormers for national teams
- Fred and Pereira shining together for Brazil
- Lukaku clinical for Belgium
De Gea
Dalot Smalling Lindelöf Shaw
Matic
Fred Pogba
Sanchez Lukaku Martial
Subs: Pereira, Fellaini, Lingard
Yeah I don't think Mourinho will bench either. But if Martial had the three chances Lingard had against Burnley he'd have buried at least one, and our new high press is ideally more suited to Fred than Fellaini. No chance he leaves out Lingard. Fellaini might be needed to battle Deeney.

This is true, but what I mentioned was a dream scenario where Sanchez and Martial develop an understanding at Carrington and improve their pressing and running within our new system during the international break.Does Martial find those positions though? Lingard's movement is way better.
Whenever Martial plays the majority of a match for us he usually gets a couple or so goalscoring chances. His movement is underrated. Not as good as Lingard's but not as bad as made out to be.Does Martial find those positions though? Lingard's movement is way better.

I mean, he does need to work on it, but we as a team have shown a lot more cohesion and fluidity in our last two games in which I've praised José for. I haven't seen us play this freely in a long time, and I'd love to see how Martial would do under such set-up.
True, that is where the majority of his chances come from. However, when the criticism of his bad movement came to light a while back, I started watching him off the ball more closely in games and I wouldn't say it's as bad as made out to be. He makes runs off the ball - it's just none of our players were quick enough to play him through. That's been a big issue of ours in recent years - moving the ball quicker, which means a lot of these types of runs from all of our attackers haven't been capitalised on.Really comes down to moments of individual brilliance, where he beats a few players then tries to shoot. I think his movement is very poor, finding it hard to think of goals of his which came down to this.

With that said, in the past two games we have moved the ball quicker and have tried more risky passes so I think Martial would benefit greatly from this.
