We’ve qualified for Europe nearly every season since Sir Alex retired, but what has it really achieved? Its not the be all and end all.The club has been stuck in a cycle of mediocrity. At this point, a complete reset feels necessary.

Clear out the deadwood, establish a sustainable wage structure, and commit to a well-defined transfer strategy. At the same time, start integrating youth players early so they can adapt to the system and philosophy.

Well said. I’m ready for a couple of seasons of pain provided we do what you just outlined. It has come to this, I’ve almost accepted the fact we are a very mediocre team. But back Ruben, have patience. The summer window will give us a lot more answers.

Is Jack Fletcher highly rated? Would be cool to see him make it

I rate him highly. I’m no scout but the boy has tonnes of talent. Definitely one to watch.

I don't get why people get so worked up over this. It's Dalot and Dorgu - whether it's Dalot L and Dorgu right or vice versa, who cares? They can both play either side.
It has by far the biggest impact on how this team plays because of the formation Amorim deploys. It requires wing backs to be excellent for the formation to succeed and Dalot is much better in his more natural position on the right. It would make a huge difference just to have them switch sides to their more favoured positions.

It pains me to say it but the chickens have come home to roost as I previously warned because we were dumping players without bringing in any in the January window to replenish the depleted squad. . Our bench is now full of inexperienced kids by default rather than design.
More Old Trafford mismanagement. And asset stripping.
This is by design... INEOS cost-cutting their way to Glazer profitability.

We don't have the legs to go toe to toe with Spurs with our first XI, let alone this one. I hope we take a defense first approach at least for the first 30 mins to stifle Spurs' heavy pressure. Need Bruno and Garnacho have great games to have a chance of winning.

I don't think he's ever really shown he can play RWB any better. He's looked just as poor there every time he's played there (admittedly less than LWB)
He hasn't played many games at rwb but the few he did play were better than at lwb. He also performed consistently well as a traditional rb last season. There's plenty of evidence that he's better on the right than the left. Dalot has also played rwb for Portugal. Simply having a natural right footer on that side who could overlap would be an advantage. Dorgu looks quite attacking so you'd arguably see more of an impact on the left, where he could offer a crossing option and make our attack less predictable.

Edit: Thankfully looks like Amorim has Dorgu at lwb and Dalot at rwb

It's a ridiculous theory...the best way to maximise the value of the club in the long run is to make it successful on the pitch.

I can't go through another decade of ridiculous cost-cutting theories...if you think they're incompetent and make awful decisions, that's fine, but that's a different argument

The fact if we get injuries the only senior player on the bench is lindelof! We might be about to see the kids and I can’t wait!!!!

Hope Dorgu plays on the left. Want some crosses in the box. If he’s on the right then it’s clear Amorim prefers inverted wing backs

We’ve got a bench full of under 18s, but sure let’s talk about tottenhams injury crisis

Schmeichel, Staam and Ljunberg make an interesting point before the match today: Neither Zirkzee nor Højlund have had the opportunity to score an easy goal when they have played in the number 9 position. The team has not created a single easy chance for either of the 2 strikers. Only Zirkzee has had a very easy scoring chance created, but there he played in the number 10 position.

It underscores Amorim's point that the scoring problem is a team problem, (not a striker problem).

Financially it has allowed us spend money granted not very well, but with this new structure I think the days of spending £80 million on one player are gone thankfully. We need Europe for transfers and sort this squad out . Having no Europe is going to affect the transfer window as well as sponsorships , tv deals etc.

Our expensive pros got us to 14th. How much worse can the kids actually do

I don't watch the youth teams but Chido's frame doesn't look out of place, he's already fairly well muscled up

I think there is enough evidence now that Dalot cannot play left. It’s been out of necessity more than anything.
He can line up there and run up and down the pitch, but he can’t actually play the position well.
Don't agree. Not appreciably better on the right IMO.

This is going to be painful. It's fun to see Tel warming up for Spurs... Can see that lad scoring today.
