Looking forward to this game. We’ve had some good games against them the last few times. I’d love us to repeat the performance at OT when we dominated them. Need a much better game than the last one… 1-2 to us.

If Ten Hag has any balls, he should leave Maguire out of the squad for Tottenham completely.

Have to admit that I am a bit disappointed that he decided to stay and fight for his place. We could have done with the transfer money and I can not see him improving much at his age.

Everything around the club feels negative at the minute, and I expect this to contribute.

    2 nil Spurs.

Hopefully we'll play the system that was tried in pre season where Sancho was a false 9. That showed glimpses of working, unlike the setup and selection from Monday. Garnacho can be brought in after 60 mins.

Please no Garnacho he’s only useful as an impact sub.
Get Rashy out left and Sancho as a false 9. Martial to come on , stroll around and walk off the field injured

After last weeks shitshow, a draw will be welcome and thats what I think will happen. 2-2, Utd to come from behind and snatch a point at the end.

Hope ETH has learnt one or two things from debacle against Wolves.

Ye he’d of learnt how crap we still are and that we need another number 6 to play alongside Cas. Mount and Bruno are like ghost which leaves Casa isolated.

I think this will be an end to end game so whoever has better finishing will win. Spurs are playing much more attack minded football now as we seen against Brentford and Brentford had a lot of success down the wings. They’ll be space in this game and we need Rashford on the left to cause them problems.

Got a feeling we might see a slightly more 'questionable' line-up today...

    Onana
    Wan-Bissaka Varane Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro
    McTominay Mount
    Bruno Martial Rashford

Hopefully be a bit more solid in the middle and get Rashford down the wing. Could eventually bring on Garnacho, Antony, Eriksen..

I saw three major problems in the game against Wolves

    1. Build-up wasn't working at all. We were unable to bring the ball up for minutes and minutes on. Onana is not yet comfortable with our defense, defense was unable to find anybody upfront and we kept passing the ball near our own goal, eventually losing it half of the time. It was really sad. Much more drilling and training needed if we are going to get good at this
    2. Garnacho had absolutely dreadful performance, to be honest
    3. Rashy was far from his clinical form from the mid-season last season times
    4. Most of the squad looked like they were lacking sufficient match-fitness

Sometimes Ten Hag can be a tactical genius able to fix or cover issues like this, but I think the game against Spurs will be very, very tough and most fans are probably a bit too optimistic about our odds. Ten Hag has done miracles in the past, but realistically (and statistically) we are more likely to bottle this game. I hope that won't happen.

    That's 4

Really quite worried about today's game. We need to see MUCH more from the players today.

Tottenham aren't amazing but they will fully go for it I think. Press, high tempo and Maddison in the pockets around Casemiro.

This game is a true indication of how our season might go IMO.

We simply need to adapt to how the managers wants us to play. We aren’t abandoning it after one game.
It’ll be like last season where we play that way until it sticks.

How long could that take though? Mid season at which point we may be 7th/8th in the league. I don’t want us to abandon how we play I just want him to tweak it depending on opposition. If we faced a better team than wolves last weekend we’d of been slaughtered.

surely that means he'll drop one of bruno or mount from starting xi?

we abandoned the idea of modern goalkeeper and let de gea to do what he did best after brentford last season.

Our midfield isn’t that balanced with Mount playing deeper. We need a bit more physicality in there and I think we’d look better with an Amrabat in there next to Casa. We played our best football last season when Fred played alongside him.

Probably not. One of the Caf themes right now is we need to play with two dm‘s. There is nothing that suggests we are going to.

Instead Mount, Bruno and Casemiro are being coached to work together better.

Players dropped a genuine 0/10 against Wolves. They have to perform better.

I don’t think we did. He kept trying with De Gea but Ten Hag didn’t change systems to the point he kept asking Ronaldo to press from the front even though he wasn’t very good at it.
You can’t really buy players to play one way in the summer then chop and change from a system they’re still trying to learn. You can’t train the Wolves system if we spend all week setting up a different system for the game at Spurs.

It clicked at game week 3 last season. We didn’t forget how to play football, it’s simple adaption. If we aren’t better today v Spurs and a lot better v Forest then I’d really be shocked

Yeah this would make sense though maybe Sancho as false 9 not Martial?

Can't help thinking Martinez would be a great holding midfield player anyway - far better than McT. If he did then Shaw would have to move into central defence as Maguire and Lindelof are right footed. So maybe Dalot.

Squad is too thin on quality is the take away.

Case seems to start his season a bit slow. He looked like crap last season in the first month if my memory serves me right. But he will eventually come good again don't worry.

Yeah it was the same after the two reds and the bans. He looked sluggish as anything but after a couple of games he got back into it.

We may see Bruno on RW for more than one reason. Especially if Antony has got a situation going on. Won’t be easy to focus. It may also be a good excuse to bolster the midfield with an extra body.

From yesterday's embargoed press conference Ten Hag made it clear that United's problems against Wolves are easily solved. It was all about poor execution and losing possession in Wolves half which led to them countering. I expect to see us keeping the ball much better today.

My major concern is the massive Greenwood shitshow enveloping the club. United are rightfully getting hammered by politicians, charities and celebrities for their stance. Couple that with the Antony situation and things could go badly on the pitch if we make a poor start.

I'd like ETH try Mount in Fred's position, reading comments on Mount's thread seem many quite dont find him quality player at all but surely hes better than Fred?

Probably not. One of the Caf themes right now is we need to play with two dm‘s. There is nothing that suggests we are going to.

Hope so, honestly I hate watching us play with 2 DMs.

He did keep De Gea as no. 1 but he abandoned his principle to accomodate De Gea hence why we saw De Gea return to his old habit, booting the ball high even after Ronaldo gone. Just remember hes finally had enough of Dave after watching him booting the ball aimlessly against City in the FA Cup Final.
But this is hardly one summer isnt it? the only addition in our midfield is Mount yet we played like these players are aliens to each other.
