Currently in Ibiza but I have found a bar across the road from my hotel that is showing the match, looking forward to it

Don't like playing at Stoke and will be relieved if we come away with 3 points.

All you guys predicting easy 3-0 wins..Come on now! This is Stoke away!!

Smalling has not played since the Real Madrid game a month ago but will have to play on Tuesday as Bailly and Jones are both suspended for the Basel match.

I understand the benefits of keeping Bailly and Jones together at the back but it would be good to give Smalling some gametime.

Also, given Joneses injury record, maybe giving him a rest after playing twice for England wouldn't be the worst idea.

Will we concede for the first time this season?

Sort of expecting Smalling to start this one to get some gametime before the Basel game, but at the same time I can't see Mourinho dropping Jones.

This was my squad selection but with Rashford in for Martial. Hes got a better workrate.

Not when he knows Jones will inevitably drop himself at some point soon by running into a wall or headbutting Smalling's kneecap.

Not sure if Jose will pick his strongest available team today or look to rotate with a lot of the players having played two internationals in the last week and the Basel game on Tuesday with Jones and Bailly suspended. Stoke away isn't really the type pf game you would look to play a slightly weakened team to save players for Basel at home. I'm guessing he will stick with Jones and Bailly at CB today but who knows. Herrera to start one of the games and I even wonder if Rashford or Martial might start up front with Lukaku benched in one of the games. Probably not as Lukaku is red hot just now.
Will be interesting to see if Lindelof starts against Basel or if Blind will play in at CB.

Carrick's on the squad. Speculation surrounding an eventual change to 3-5-2.

In all likelihood, the Champions League game might be easier than this one. I would go full force on this, and make eventual necessary changes in the next.

If Stoke starts with Crouch, it would perhaps make some sense to drop Jones for Smalling, since this one had no international minutes and is going to start on Tuesday. The same with Valencia, maybe.

Not for me. I'd like us to fully concentrate on the Prem, it has to be our top priority this season. Have them push through this one more game and then rest players for the Basel game, it's a very winnable fixture regardless.

edit. just seen you made this very point in a previous post

Agreed, on the face of it, today's game looks a lot tougher. More changes are likely against Basel, in addition to the unavoidable ones at CB ,although I think United will want to make sure they get the three points in the first CL game to avoid playing catch up later on on the group - remember the last away game against Basel in the CL. United also had to scramble a draw against them at home in the first group match.

That's the problem there, the Premier League start is a priority and the first Champions League games are a priority too. There isn't much room for resting players right now. If Mourinho changes the system or some of the starters who aren't struggling and then we get a bad result (a draw), it will be on him.

Match day hype! It's been too long.

Clean sheet and 4 goals please. I feel like once we get that goal they'll crack open like an egg, especially if it's later on. Just hope the weather isn't shitty in Stoke today.

This is where the season starts, for me. The September international break is out of the way, we're playing away to a tricky opponent, and it's the first Champions League week of the season. The ball is finally rolling and I'm confident for the first time in years.

Same line up as today. We'll win 2-0.

I think Ander could get his first start today, with Mata missing out and Miki going wider and it wouldn't surprise me to see Smalling come in for Jones, to get some minutes under his belt ready for Tuesday.

I'll be very surprised if we don't see changes today

Hate playing Stoke especially away. Any old win would be fine if we can get it.

More confident about today's trip to Stoke than any in recent years. Things have changed, the better for us and the worse for them.

They've had trouble scoring so far so if we can get one in the first half it'll look like a mountain from their end.

Curious to see if Mourinho will be superstitious enough to keep the system and starters, or if he's going to change to 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 and rest players like Valencia and, maybe, Jones, Matić, Mkhitaryan.

Not sure about the line up today. Stoke will attack at home and it will be via crosses in the box.

Fellani Smalling could play if there is crouch , but jese rod plays than Jones could play too. Confused.
