Weird people saying we'll be fine as Stoke aren't what they were under Pulis. We've actually struggled there more since they decided to start playing football. Got 13/15 points there before Pulis left and got only 2/12 points since Hughes took over.

But it does still make it a less daunting place to go. Our failure there in recent years will probably be more down to us being shit. If we play our game today we should be fine. Just need to get that first goal earlier today.

Challenge extended by the City result, a win is obviously vital but it feels like we need another big scoreline to keep the momentum on our side too.

Shawcross missing this is great news, their best defender by far and also outside of Crouch their biggest aerial threat.

Plus there is always the chance he would have mauled one of our attackers.

In Lagos and won't be able to watch today, so hoping they can manage three points without me.

I usuall go to Pat's Bar on VI but can't get there today. Or does anyone know a bar near enough to the airport where I can go ?

By the way....I'm not Nigerian, so a bar where I'd be welcome....

Hoping Mourinho doesn't mess with the team too much.

Would like to see the same formation. May possibly see one or two changes, but we really need to keep up our momentum.

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Jones Blind
    Matic Pogba
    Mata Mkhitaryan Rashford
    Lukaku

Start Rashford again because he has been class recently.

Really should be winning this but we are absolutely shite against Stoke.

Yeah, there's a difference between changing one or two players, but sticking to 4-2-3-1, and also changing the formation.

I'm hoping for a small win (1-0) but I wouldn't be upset with a score draw. Stoke are usually bastards for United.

Just to jinx it a little bit:

Jose Mourinho has gone on to win the Premier League title in all three previous seasons in which his side opened with four wins. Chelsea did so in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2014-15.

Fellaini's out of the squad, maybe injured?

If we go 1-0 up as I have predicted, bringing Fellaini on to secure the 3 points would be mandatory. Quite a loss if he has picked up an injury on international duty.

Apparently we've been scoring loads when he comes in, so…

Herrera will take Fellaini position as a sub today so I'm not very worried. The starting line up should have plenty of fire power to hurt them with 2 goals at least.

Am pretty sure there will be places inside the airport where you can get to watch the game.
Also you will be welcome in any part of Nigeria, is a hospitable society especially in lagos.

Regarding the old talk about Pogba being unfit to play in a midfield two, it seems like it was Herrera the one.

I'm optimistic, but not expecting a big result, though. Think it'll be 2-0 or 2-1 with their goal coming late.

Haven't been feeling well all day. Sign of things to come maybe?

Everyone else is picking up points today. In years gone by we'd drop them so let's see if we're built a bit differently this year.

We've got a point in our last two visits, and that point was a lucky one in all honesty.

We were much better in the away game last season. We conceded from a stupid mistake from Mata, who later on missed a chance with the goal free of its keeper. Not really a lucky point imo.

Herrera is not as good defensively as Matic, and not as good going forward as Pogba, hence why he won't start if the aforementioned two are fit.

Will still play an important part, though. Think we'll see a lot of him in the Champions League if/when we play a three man midfield.

They are missing their first choice CBs, right? That should be a win, if our forwards are clinical enough.

Yes this will be a good indicator as to where we are mentally. Weekends like this the last few seasons usually point to us drawing/losing. We'll see.

Nope it's the other way around. Every time a rival dropped points we failed to capitalise. We tend to win when others do

No....Can't find anything in MMA this afternoon....

Hospitable - of course....Easy for a white guy on his own outside of VI - not always....
