    It didn't. We're not playing shite because of a foul. We're playing shite cos we've got a few players putting in some shite performances.
     
    Sancho for Martial and McTominay for Matic please. We're playing way too passively, can't afford to carry the likes of Martial and Matic dithering on the ball.

    Can't carry Matic and Martial through Prem-level matches like this. They don't belong anywhere near this level.

    Fred is so mentally weak you switch him from LCM to RCM and he can't even understand how to play the position.
     
    I’m really really surprised that the Matic-Fred combo and Martial are struggling massively against high intense pressure.
    I wish these things were known beforehand so we can plan better accordingly.
     
    Fred is having a 0/10 and Matic isn’t even good enough to be playing for Southampton anymore. How the feck have we not bought a central midfielder yet?

    Oh yeah. Donny playing in midfield on his own against 3 Southampton players would be MUCH better. It's no surprise that whoever plays with that useless sack of shit called Matic ends up struggling.
     
    We should have been 1 or 2 goals up, but are 1 behind. We have been really poor. Martial has hardly touched the ball and looks really out of form.

    Same shit, different season. Didn't watch the Leeds game but this feels far too familiar. No idea why we need 4 midfielders.
     
    Normal Ole service resumed. 0 ideas forward, long balls and crossing is all we do. Predictable and slow.

    Also Fred is complete trash.
     
    This shows how we desperately lack in central midfield. This is where we really needed to strengthen as a priority. We haven't the creativity, nous and pressure on the ball in the middle. Fred and Matic are simply not good enough.
     
    We need immediate substitutions. Matic and Martial were just shit, by any accounts
     
    Martial is done here, absolutely useless. He'll struggle for mins once Ole has a fit squad.

    Fred's been utter garbage as well
     
    Don’t deserve to be a goal down, but here we are. Should have probably scored from any number of good set pieces. No idea why Martial is still starting matches for Manchester United. He’s had nothing for over a year now.

    So you're saying Martial hasn't been an issue this half? The difference between this week and last is Greenwood upfront created space to receive the ball, martial may as well be sat down on the field. He's just void.

    Our midfielders are shocking, Matic i'm not surprised about. Fred..... i'm also not surprised about.
    The weakest part of our team and desperately needs improvement.
     
    Jammy goal from the side who looked like creating nothing unless we gave them chances. Need some subs on and we can turn it around.
     
    Southampton have been pretty lucky that half. We certainly weren’t great but that goal is the luckiest deflection going and all those ball pinballing around their box somehow staying out! Surely these are the games we signed Sancho for, Martial has been poor and Greenwood would probably be better down the middle!
     
    Bleurgh. Too often the tale of United under Ole, struggling to control the general play, and when we do have spells where we control the ball, it's all a bit scratchy and we're not really stretching them and making chances. Combined with sloppiness at the back and we can't complain about the score. Still fancy us to win, but it's symptomatic of why we fell short last season so it's worrying to have it pop up again already. Set pieces looked good though. So there’s that.
     
    If Ole has anything about him whatsoever he's hooking Martial and Fred/Matic at half time for Sancho and someone else.

    I'd be tempted to throw on Varane and go 3 at the back. Anything is better than that double pivot clown act.
     
    A messy display so far. Not doing enough with the possession we have and Southampton are causing real concern with set pieces and counter attacks. Looks arse-backwards, both changes Ole has made from last week have made us worse, with and without the ball.
     
    Frustrating half. Some of our passing had been just not good enough. The goal was as a result of the team being pre-occupied with a perceived foul on Fernandes. No one was attentive to the danger. Needs a much better second half.

    I would say they are half the problem as everytime Fred or Matic look up there is no easy option for them as 2nd striker Bruno is off on the last shoulder of a CB.
    It’s made even worse by Matics insistence in playing as a CB.
    Can’t get anything forward going just Greenwood or martial running out to the wings to pick up a ball over the top.
