The biggest problem is that Matic is dropping into the central defense as third defender. That creates problem for our midfield. It's as if we are playing with 5 defenders.Disappointing. Fred has been woeful, but he’s not been helped by how deep Matic is dropping. There’s been a number of times Fred’s received the ball and the 5 closest players to him are Southampton bodies.
Martial has been anonymous, didn’t know there’s no Cavani on the bench so will have to be Sancho on and Greenwood pushed up front.Martial doesn’t stretch the pitch at all, which is kind of necessary in games like these when the opposition packs midfield.
