I think Varane and Sancho are smokescreens for a much bigger plan. By threatening the players from last season, the bonds between them grow stronger and they will perform better together knowing that there are 100 million+ bench warmers on our side. Thats how you get the best out of Martial, Greenwood, Pogba, Daniel James, Lindelof. Even Phil Jones wants to do a Luke Shaw now

They're all good players with consistency issues, and Sancho and Varane will come in eventually, it's just one of those that we have options in those areas anyway, and the shortened pre seasons and being new signings, so they don't walk in.

Giving players who were at the Euros a few extra weeks to get back into shape is probably a good idea. As long as we win he's a genius! And they're on the bench if needed.

The only part of this game I worry about is JWP freekicks and corners. We should be beating Southampton comfortably. No repeat of that awful start last season.

This should be easy pickings for us. Their structure and consequent weakness' are perfect for a team like ours. These games will be great for us to get momentum by the time we run into our rivals. We need to bed in the new signings soon though.

Well I haven't seen much of him, he was surely expensive enough to look like a starter. It seems clear he's not a deep lying midfielder, so it seems like he's a central or attacking midfielder, like Paul. Obviously the style is somewhat different, Paul plays pretty differently, not sure anyone is like for like.
