I think we should go with 3 at the back. Our current double pivot options will be vulnerable defensively if we go with the 4-2-3-1.

    DDG
    Awb Tuanzebe Maguire Lindelof Telles
    VdB Fred
    Bruno
    Rashford Martial

I think you’re possibly 3 days early with this line up .

I'm pretty sure we'll see Tuanzebe today starting. Lindelof needs rest ahead of PSG game (Tuanzebe is suspended for. That one).

Really looking forward to this. I think it will be fascinating to watch how we try and deal with them tactically. Let’s see if Ole has something up his sleeve to counter them.

He’s been out for about three weeks and will not return until mid December.
Gosh, we have fallen far when we are glad that Ings is missing. We just need to go full out attack in this game, put them on the back foot and watch are forwards take them apart. Looking forward to seeing this.

Still, that can't be real. Ole does what's best for the club, not for himself, he's said it multiple times. Pogba being available is still what's best for the club. You want him to be a game changer at least, and use him basically.
At this moment in time though, the guy isn’t changing games for the better. For the worse, yes, when he dawdles around the halfway line and loses the ball. I do not think Ole likes that.
If he really doesn't want to play for United, why does he not do the only honest thing he has done since he has been at OT and put in a transfer request.
Of course I could be wrong, but for that loyalty bonus imo. Rooney didn’t as well in 2013 when Chelsea came calling because of the multi-million pounds he would lose.

    Loyalty. That is a laugh.

Pogba is still a player with whom we win more games, with him. And he did change games when he came on as a sub. Fitness is a real issue with Pogba so I will trust that this is just taking longer than expected.

They were quite heavy handed last season at OT.

I'm sure they'll be "up for it" again and it'll be a tough match. Wouldn't like to place a bet on the result.

If the ref can call a few fouls from the flying elbows etc, we could do well.

For me Ings is the best striker in the league after Kane. I'd take him over Vardy. Him being out would be good news even to title challengers facing Southampton.

Not got a good feeling about this one. Southampton are our bogey team. Hope Ole and the boys can prove me wrong.

It will be interesting to see if Ole and his coaching staff learned anything from last season's draws against them.

And equally, has Hasenhüttl got any new tricks up his sleeve. As in maybe he'll adopt a different approach this time. We're probably prepared for a pressing onslaught. So it would be quite funny if he adapts a more cautious approach now that Ings & Redmond are pretty much ruled out of contention.

Wouldn't be surprised if we win, but history suggests a draw. And it wouldn't be a terrible away draw if we had started the season better.

Pogba started in 5 games - 3 losses, 2 wins, GD -2. When Pogba didn't start, we've won 7, drawn 1 and lost 1, GD +15. He contributes more as a sub and that's how he should be used for now.

Can’t think of many games during a season I hate more than this one. West Ham and Everton away are up there, I reckon. Dreading it.

Four years of course is longer than expected.

    very nervous about this one

    :nervous:
Funny - I’m not that nervous. Had it been Burnley, Palace or WBA on the other hand I’d be expecting loads of mistakes, bad passing and maximum one goal forward, but against team that can play, we usually do well.

Winning our two games we have in hand and we’re two points short of Liverpool. Would kill for this team to go on a winning streak for more than three games.

I see the meltdown has begun seeing as we’re playing the second coming of Barcelona

    I think we’ll win comfortably

Tbh I'm not sure why I'm worried. Our away form has been great(Plus Ings is missing for Southampton)just you can never tell with this United team.

Just my opinion of course, but Pogba has fallen down the pecking order and this is just a way for Ole to disguise it without saying he’s been dropped. Nothing wrong as many, if not most, managers do this to out of favour players to appease him, the fans and the press. Also, we generally win more games with him because he played the most previously when he was the star man when fit. However, if you look at it proportionally (stats can be found online), our midfield pairings with Pogba result in a lower percentage of wins than without, where for instance, Fred and McT or Fred and Matic play.

We have a leaked team for the first time in a while.

If true, not a single United fan will have qualms about this team, plus Cavani and a relatively in form James to bring off the bench. A peaceful one hour before kick-off for once in the matchday thread.

It’s actually a bit mental to think Danny Ings is considered a top premier league striker these days isn’t it?

I was convinced Ole would play it safe with Matic & Fred, but if it's true that Donny starts along with Bruno and the front three I can see it working.

Southampton will be up for it and press high, so having both van de Beek and Bruno looking to get the ball to our front three on quick counters / transitions will be crucial. Just need to finish our chances. 12 Goals in 32 Appearances combined so far this season between Rashford, Martial and Greenwood... Not as bad as it feels, but it definitely needs to be at least 1 in 2 IMO for how good they are.
