Lingard isn't even particularly quick, Rooney would probably still beat him in a sprint. He has a decent shot on him and nothing else about him. Could have Mata in the centre and Rashford out wide.

We badly badly badly need Carrick on though. Has to come on at HT.

I think the problem is the game title has us "away" but we're on the home side, so the place @Niall gets the data to automatically update the score from will put the goal in the "wrong" side for us

Refs have given us NOTHING!!

They even chalked off a perfectly legit Zlatan goal against Middlesbrough so it's about bloody time it evened out.

In the end, referee decisions even themselves out.. today it is harsh on Southampton but they will get some favourable decisions in other games.

For us, this is a MASSIVE start to the game.

We got lucky.

They certainly gained an advantage! Our player marking the Southampton "offside" player (Smalling I think) ran with him – as he can hardly hope that the officials will "spot" he was offside.

If he didn't go with the decoy player the room would not have existed for the goal to be scored … therefore the offside decoy play influenced the scoring of the goal and Southampton "gained an advantage" by using the deliberately offside decoy runner.

The sooner it reverts to offside is offside the better IMHO!

We start the game. Our players don't seem interested.
Half time comes Jose goes in early and gives his team talk.
Then we dominate the 2nd half.

It really does feel that our players need Jose's team talk at half time to do anything.

We aren't controlling any area of the pitch. Maybe Carrick would give us a better grip, but honestly our players need to wake the feck up as well. Pogba getting tackled by Ward-Prowse earlier is indicative of our careless attitude so far.
