Nobody thinks Mourinho might be tempted to drop Bailly for the final?

Romeu vs Herrera will be a big one. Will be interesting to see how Herrera face a Spanish opponent AND one of similar position/style.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Bailly--Smalling--Blind
    Herrera--Fellaini--Pogba
    Mata--Ibrahimovic--Martial

subs: Romero, Rojo, Young, Schweinsteiger, Lingard, Rooney, Rashford

The lack of pace is a worry. Or start Lingard and play a 4-2-3-1.

In that setup, Herrera is the deepest, not Fellaini.

    DDG
    Valencia-Bailly-Smalling-Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera-Pogba
    Mkhi-Ibra-Martial

Is what I would go for. Around the 60 minute mark bring Rashford and Mata on for Mkhi and Carrick if needs be.

I want Mata in the team personally. I think we can play 2 main CMs.

Had a feeling Lingard would start before the injuries, even more convinced now

He likes a Wembley goal though so not all bad :nervous:

If Mkhitaryan and Carrick are both out then Lingard should come in and play through the middle. I'm not his biggest fan but he's a damn sight better than Fellaini in the midfield. Herrera and Pogba at the base and let Lingard roam about with Mata and Martial. It's our best bet.

Let's rather play 433 with Bastian in a 3 with Pogger and Ander while our front 3 consisting of Martial, Ibra and Mata.

I was thinking the lineup could be like this if Mkhi isn't available

    4-2-3-1
    DDG
    Young Bailly Rojo Blind
    Herrera Pogba
    Valencia Mata Martial
    Ibra
    or
    4-4-2
    DDG
    Young Bailly Rojo Blind
    Valencia Herrera Pogba Martial
    Ibra Rashford

I'd be inclined to start with this too. If things aren't going well, we can always bring an attacking player on and change to a 4231, as you said.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Rojo - Blind
    Herrera - Fellaini - Pogba
    Mata - Zlatan - Martial

I know Mourinho will start Smalling though. And it will be a mistake in my opinion.

This winning is getting me hooked. Just want that trophy...the first target chalked off and done 'n' dusted. This one game at a time approach is working wonders for Mourinho. Not like Klopp and the dippers who pretty much fecked up a potentially great season in a week.

We all know that Schweinsteiger isn't getting anywhere near the first XI. Nice idea, mind you.

Fellaini and Smalling in a cup final at Wembley is just asking for trouble. Dunno how my nerves would hold out.

Smalling bottled it against Palace last year. Not sure what Rojo has done to be dropped in favor of him, he was playing out of his skin the past few months and offers literally everything Smalling does and more.

Fellaini will bring a bit of fight to that kind of game, and might even nick a goal for us. As long as he doesn't start defending in our box during open play, we should be fine.

I think we need a bit of balance in there for the Cup final... we could play Herrera and Pogba behind Mata and Lingard/Martial beside Ibra but Fellaini will add that steel in the middle. Plus Mata on the right side is always good for a goal. If we don't play Fellaini, we look too "open" in the midfield. Pogba will also be too deep which I'm not a fan of. I want to see him bomb forward and score goals.

    Fellaini!!!!!!!

Are people still considering him to be good enough for a starting berth at United? There is no way he should start on Sunday, he's awful

Don't think Carrick would have played anyway, to be honest. Hope he's fit in time for the FA Cup tie, though.
Yep, I think it's only Mkhi we have to worry about in terms of a change to the planned line up ... and also is DDG going to be fit?
Hopefully Mkhi is okay but we can't risk losing him for a long stretch so I think he'll be on the bench.

If Mkhi and Carrick are both out i wouldn't mind seeing Young at right back and Valencia right wing with Mata and Martial in the middle and on the left respectively. Would shut down Redmond and give us great potential to counter attack.
Interesting, especially the Valencia out wide with Mata & Martial inside. I can't see it happening unless we are desperate and we are anything but that. Young played really well but for me was really flagging towards the end of the game; Looked knackered! Nice to see you're that confident about playing Young at RB though!
I personally think IF Jose were to play both he would keep Valencia at RB and move Young forward but as I said; not gonna happen.

Without Carrick & assuming Mkhi will be carrying a slight strain; Rashford will need a break (he worked very hard today but be available on the bench) and assuming DDG is okay, I think I would start

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Bailly Blind
    Pogs Lingard Herrera
    Mata Martial
    Ibra

It's great that we have options; Basti played well enough for me today to justify consideration & start instead of Lingard maybe?
The Lingard option sees us a bit more attacking and a fast start would suit me better than a slow methodical counter attack strategy but it may depend on fitness levels through the team/squad. It looked like several lads took little knocks today.

For me if Carrick and Mkhi don't play I'd bring Bastian in. Him Herrera and Pogba in midfield with Mata, Martial and Zlatan uptop.

Alternatively Young on the right and play with Mata at #10.

No Lingard please. Woefully out of form at the moment.

The injuries to Carrick and Mkhitariyan, sad as they are for the players, should not affect us too much as we have very good options in both positions as well as much better players in general. And that situation in itself is evidence of the huge progress Mourinho has made this season.

I think our position in the league is a false: fast forward a month or so and I think we'll truly be in the fight for 2nd place. Which is probably a realistic assessment of where we are right now.

Add some new firepower in the summer and trim some more deadwood, and it will be business as usual from next season.

They're going to miss Van Dijk with Zlatan up top.

Miki and Carrick getting injured means I'll be seeing scenarios I didn't want to happen:

    - Fellaini playing in midfield.
    - Lingard making the 11 line up.
    - Rashford occupying one wing.

No matter what 1 of those above will happen on Sunday after the injuries we got.

Was just watching on YT post match analysis by Scholsey, Owen and that Jack guy. He said if we win LC we will equal Liverpool's 44 major trophies victories!
Please, someone tell that to Jose!

It's 41 Liverpool, 40 Manchester United, if you don't count titles like Community Shield and Super Cups.

Really disappointed mhki won't be available. With all the empty Wembley pitch to run into he would have thrived. Don't really want felliani to start but I can see it.

Domestically we are pulling away from them. The difference is 4 trophies in our favour between the fa cup, league cup and premier league.

So frustrating when the actual solution would just be to start the fecking World Cup winner.
