    11/11 for me on this one, I think playing a back 3 given Pereira is going to have to play in a 2 in midfield makes sense IMO.

    Going to be very tough without McT I feel...(Starter for 10 Things you never thought you'd say at the start of this season...)

    Time will tell, but I assume the plan is to let Martial, Rashford & James free license to attack with minimal defensive duties. That should let them come at us and then hit them on the counter, which is after all where those 3 are most effective.

    Why is that weird?
     
    I dont consider that a defensive line up? 3 at the back, 2 wing backs pushing on. Fred and pereira sitting Rashford martial and James up front.
     
    5 in defence or not, our Achilles heel is set pieces/crosses in box. Sheff Utd will exploit this to the fullest and I don't expect their defence to leave much space behind. Mata, given all his shortcomings, is still our best techincally sound option to unlock their defence and I would have gone with him over Periera.
     
    The Gomes love in here makes little sense..

    If we were desperate for someone from the academy to break through, I could understand people's judgement getting clouded..

    That isnt the case.. He has been just about OK when he has been on the pitch.

    He will probably play in both the Europa league games.. and have his chance to impress.

    The second tier of reserve football isnt exactly challenging.
     
    Must win or the manager will be back on imminent sack watch.

    I'm fairly confident we'll have too much quality for them. A change in keeper will erode that defences confidence.

    Do you know that Sheffield United plays a different style? They tend to overload the wings... with their centre-halves? Thus the need for us to have the wing-backs. But that also leaves big gaps. Mata isnt suited for this sort of game. They dont park the bus.
     
    Pleased with Williams starting. 3 defenders look kinda too much for me though, but let's see how this will go on.
     
    They are very good defensively, so if we setup weak defensively, good chance they would win 1-0 or 2-0. So I think it's cunning tactically to setup as he has to nullify all their strengths as best we can, while hiding our midfield weakness. I still stick to my 0-0 prediction, but it all depends on our being clinical, I don't see many opportunities, but we might nick a 1-0.
     
    Hadn't considered a reworking of the formation to make up for the absence of McTominay. Probably the best solution really. Not many options in midfield at the minute anyway. Shame it's Jones in at the back and that Tuanzebe wasn't for enough. Attack looks the strongest area. Great to see Williams on the pitch.

    Jesus. They just mentioned another stat. The only time Sheffield has beaten United at home was the very first PL game in 1992.
     
    With all the injuries in midfield it makes sense to be playing a 3-4-3 today. i like this formation a lot more than a 3-5-2. Surprised to see Williams starting when Young is healthy. Not disappointed though...hopefully he does well and becomes our first choice LB...
     
    Are Sheffield Utd full strength ? I mean other than Henderson being unable to play.

    They are susceptible to counter attacks though.
     
    If.. and it is a big IF, we beat Sheffield comfortably, it should end the talk about Ole and his tactical knowledge... No one so far has been able to play well against Sheff United.. They are really hard to play against.

    that said, I dont expect it to be easy at all.. will take any scrappy win..
