    Banega
    Reguilon
    Kounde
    Ocampos

As squad players? yes. Starting eleven, hell NO.

I won't drop Greenwood, Martial, or Rashford for Kounde/Ocampos, Neither will I drop Matic/Pogba for Banega. The only one I can take is Reguilon over Shaw and that's debatable.

Shaw isn't going to play anyway so probably compare Reguilon to Williams.

Diego Carlos is in UEFA La Liga XI, I would say based on this season performance, he should be ahead of Lindelof. Navas is also not bad since he's on UEFA La Liga XI, but I'll pick Bissaka over since he has much higher rating in Whoscored.com

    Without Pogba !

My argument wasn't about with or without Pogba but about your decision & reason to choose Bruno over Pogba. We were solid defensively against City & Chelsea, and still managed to create good amount of chances & beat them 2-0. So your logic to choose Bruno over Pogba didn't apply to what happened in those two games.

I'll bet my next three girlfriends that Matic will start. Anyone?

Kounde is arguably better but its close between them. Diego Carlos gave the penalty away against Traore with a long run, he could just about keep up with him but dived in and brought him down in the box

    The big danger in attack

And it had to happen. Their Pogba in midfield

    A genuine performance needed here.

The shite we have played post Villa has been poor minus a great 20 minutes against Southampton.

Midfield key as people have mentioned.

Why shouldn't our only real defensive midfielder start? If Fred starts, he'll have one of his trademark brainfarts and pass directly to a Sevilla player, which will inevitably lead to a goal this time, since Sevilla aren't lowly Copenhagen.

    Some Sevilla numbers :

3rd highest possession in la liga after Barcelona and Real Madrid
13 goals from set pieces, making them the most dangerous set piece side in la liga
Better defensive record than ours with 34 conceded in 38 league matches to our 36 in 38
A bit behind in attack as the 5th highest scorers in la liga scored 12 less goals than we did
Had a run of 15 games of wins and draws with no losses. The record was Atletico with 16. Our best this season was 14 games

A penalty away in one game doesn't justify player's performance in a season. What's up with lot of you judging player based on one game.

It would be nice to see Martial not carry the attack here. Would love to see Rashford return to explosive form.

We will need to win the midfield battle. Concentration for full game by everyone. This game will go to a 1-0 win for whoever fights and wants it the most imo.

Watched them against Wolves (ugh), the number of decent crosses they put into the box is amazing. Our defenders need to be on the top of their game here for us to get anything from this.

    Kounde is a defender.

How can anyone suggest dropping Greenwood, the boy is magic. He’s capable of winning us this game with a single chance, not many players in world football can do that. Should be one of the first names on the team sheet in this form.

They don’t really have anyone great in the air though, I think Maguire will have a field day if they do what they did against Wolves.

Wolves had only 20% possession. This will be hard to watch.
You do realise that Wolves always play without the ball, it’s literally their gameplan against anyone even half decent. They might have more of the ball than us, but I’d imagine we will still see plenty.

Who knows? I've seen formations here with no Matic as starter.

    This will be tough.

Sevilla are a good team who do much better in Europe than domestically.

But. We have Pogba, Fernandes, Greenwood, Rashford and Martial.

And Solskjaer is a much smarter manager than people think. Well trained under Sir Alex/Quieroz too in his early coaching days. United to win in extra time again.

    C'MON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting impatient waiting for Sunday

You're far too optimistic for this thread, well done, we need more like this!

Sevilla's weakness is, that they struggle to score goals. Its both down to tactics and individual quality. Its a 433 with a defensive midfielder/destroyer and two central midfielders, that don't contribute a lot in the final third. For Lopetegui control is the most important thing. That puts a lot of responsibility on the wingers and fullbacks to create something. Up top its either de Jong or En-Nesyri (I expect the later to start again). Lets ignore individual quality (both are miles behind someone like Martial), but they are both big guys, who are not going to dribble past players, run in-behind or are able to hold the ball up for a long time. They need service. The problem is, that they are very isolated, because the midfielders usually don't join them. That makes it very easy for defenders to stop them without much risk. Allowing Sevilla to have possession isn't that big of a deal as long as you don't overdo it like Wolves did. They just stopped playing football after 15 minutes, which was a bit silly.
The upside of this approach is, that Sevilla concedes only few goals and are very stable. Additionally, the team knows how to be a bit cnut-ish in terms of fouls, dives and theatrics to disrupt the opposition, if necessary.

Here is roughly the scoring table for all competitions for players, who might start:

    Winger: two of
    Ocampos - 17 - 3440
    Munir - 10 - 1700 (includes 5 goals against Düdelingen)
    Suso - 1 - 1000

    CFs: one of
En Nesyri - 6 - 1000 (joined the club in January)
    de jong - 7 - 2580

    central midfielders:
    Banega - 3 - 2870
    Jordan - 2 - 3060
Vazquez - 6 - 1500 (as sub; doesn't play a major role anymore; he is a bit different in the sense, that he plays a lot closer to the striker, so he might be a sub, if Sevilla need a goal)

Combined Diego Carlos, Kounde and Regulion scored 8. The goals from Banega and Jordan came from set pieces, where Sevilla is very dangerous.

The biggest threat by far is Ocampos (when he starts on the right), because he is able to take on players in 1v1s and is very creative. Stop him and Sevilla is having a hard time to score from open play. Both fullbacks are fast and happy to go forward, but they are also a bit predictable. I don't think that United needs to change their system. The left sided midfielder and winger have help Williams, but thats about it. Don't make silly mistakes and trust your forwards. I was pretty confident, that Sevilla would advance against Wolves, but this game is imo mostly decided by United. If you turn up in good form, you'll win because you have much more quality up front and Sevilla is a very good match-up for your normal tactics. You'll get in trouble, if make too many individual mistakes and get nervous, but thats always going to be the case regardless of line-up/approach.

    Good assessment of them.

My concern is that we seem to labour against teams who are well organised. West Ham and Soton spring to mind.
We really need Bruno to click early on.

This lot are exceptionally good in this competition.I reckon this will be among the toughest games we've had all season. I don't think we can afford to start slowly or go behind to such a well-drilled outfit

Blimey, a positive post at last.

    I can't wait either

It'll be our usual setup you'd think

    De Gea
    Lindelof-Matic-Maguire
    AWB------Pogba----Willaims

    *The void*

    Greenwood-----‐-----------Rashford
    Bruno
    Martial

If we can reach our January-June level I think we should get past these quite comfortably. Wasn’t hugely impressed with them on Tuesday night. If we play like we have post Southampton though I think we’ll really struggle.

We're a lot more comfortable playing against teams that are willing to attack us and leave space in behind, which I'm assuming Sevilla will do. It should be an open game with plenty of goals. That's the hope anyway.

Buzzing for this! Sevilla are a good side who will probably enjoy more possession than us. Last time we came up against Banega, he was totally dominant. I'm sure Ole will be aware of that and will set us up tactically to try stop them dominating the ball.

I still fancy us to win but it'll be a tough game.

We are but we are also very very bad at handling teams pressing us whilst we attempt to play for the back.

Really looking forward to this. Covid-19 aside, I’ve really enjoyed watching United on warm summer days with ice cold beers. The Leicester game we moved the TV outside, which was a first for a PL game here in the middle of Norway! :D We’ve looked a little off the pace since Villa (?), but we’ve managed to come out on top most of the time.

I trust us to do what’s needed. Only Martial looked close to top form vs Copenhagen so hopefully a few more players can perform, like Rashford. 3-1 to us with Bruno scoring a pen:angel:
